Vietnam, Japan to boost military ties

The Vietnamese delegation’s visit aims to evaluate the two countries’ national defence cooperation, and look at detailed measures to foster future cooperation, enhancing friendship, mutual understanding and trust between the two countries and their military forces for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, based on the Vietnam-Japan Joint Statement on the development of the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia, signed by the two Governments in October 2011.

In the framework of the visit, the high-ranking Vietnamese military delegation will lay a wreath at the monument of the Japanese Ministry of Defence General Headquarters, paying a courtesy visit to Japanese Minister of National Defence, having talks with General Iwasaki Shigeru, the Chief of Joint Staff of Japan Self Defence Force, visiting Japan’s High Command of Coastal Safety Force and some units of Japan Ground Self-Defence Force and Japan Air Self-Defence Force./.
