Vietnam, Japan to host celebratory concert tour

Tuesday, 03/09/2013

The Vietnamese National Symphony Orchestra will work with Japanese artists on a “Vietnam Japan 40 Autumn Concert Tour”, running from September 14 to October 1 and visiting both countries.

Hanoi audiences can enjoy this special event at two Opera House performances on September 14 and 15.

The Vietnamese and Japanese musicians are then scheduled to fly to Japan for performances in Yokohama (September 21), Koriyama (September 22), Osaka (September 24), Takemitsu Memorial Hall (September 27), Kanematsu Kodo (September 29), and Nara’s Todaiji Daibutsuden (October 1).

In addition to renowned Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji and pianist Kodama Momo, the concerts will also feature the “Spider’s Thread” ballet composed by the late Yasushi Akutagawa.

Vietnamese cellist Ngo Hoang Quan, narrator Le Khanh, and French-Vietnamese composer Nguyen Thien Dao are additional highlights of the concert line-up, performing Beethoven’s Symphonies No. 5 and No. 7.

The concert tour celebrates 40 years of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties.
