Travel magazine Wanderlust of the UK has named Vietnam among its top 20 best places to visit in January, ranking the country eighth in the list.
UNESCO heritage site Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh is one of the most attractive destinations in Vietnam
The magazine noted that just neighbouring Laos, Vietnam is a safe choice for those wishing to go on holiday in January.
“The weather is similarly pleasant, dry and sunny – with only slight differences between the north and south. Crowds have yet to arrive post-Christmas, so you've got the chance to experience this uber-popular country in relative peace”, according to Wanderlust.
It went on to note that on a longer adventure, visitors will have time to experience the entire country.
“You'll never get bored of Vietnam's varied cities: Hoi An, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hue, the perfect city for cycling enthusiasts”, the magazine introduced.
It stated that natural beauty can be found around every corner throughout the country. Sites such as Ha Long Bay and the lesser-known Lan Ha Bay, both of which are accessible from Cat Ba Island, as well as the world's biggest cave Hang Son Doong, are all incredible places to visit.
Rounding off the top 20 are Norway, Malé in the Maldives, Los Angeles in the United States, Slovenia, Barbados, Laos and the Mekong river, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador, Hill Country in Sri Lanka, Panama, the penguin chicks of Antarctica, and macaws in Tambopata in Peru.
