Vietnam’s Olympic football team will play friendlies against Thailand and Qatar in Bangkok next week in preparation for the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China next month.

The match against Thailand will take place on the 27th and the other one against Qatar four days later, providing an invaluable opportunity for the team to get used to the West Asian style. Of the three other teams in Vietnam’s group, two are from this region.

 At the Games, Vietnam will take on Bahrain on the 8th November, Turkmenistan on the 10th, and finally powerhouse Iran on the 13th of November.

 At the Olympics and ASIAD, every team has to field an under-23 team, with a maximum of three players aged more than 23.
