Vietnam proposed to host World Travel Week

Update: 08-07-2022 | 16:45:53

Vietnam should host World Travel Week in the future to elevate popular local destinations, and the World Travel Awards (WTA) will provide assistance in bringing people to the event, suggested Graham Cooke, founder of the World Travel Awards.

Overview of the meeting

The WTA representative made the statement during a recent meeting held between the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and World Travel Awards.

Cooke revealed that with extensive experience from organising leading tourism events worldwide such as the International Tourism Exchange Berlin (ITB) and the World Travel Market (WTM), the WTA can assist the country in attracting major brands and attracting famous people to the event.

Furthermore, there will be a wide range of activities held in the field of health tourism, therapy, and cuisine during the event to allow the country to introduce its unique tourism products to the world.

At the meeting, Nguyen Trung Khanh, director general of the VNAT, said the Vietnamese tourism industry has been gradually recovering and striving to promote tourism activities via digital platforms in a bid to attract more tourists moving into the post-pandemic period.

The WTO president Graham Cooke hailed Vietnam’s post-pandemic positive tourism gains, attributing the strong recovery to the country’s competent pandemic containment efforts, as well as other factors such as its developed infrastructure and abundant workforce.

He emphasised the necessity of ramping up tourism promotion activities on digital platforms and utilising social networks to elevate destinations as low-cost and highly effective tools.
