Vietnam’s tuna exported to 87 markets

Update: 14-12-2011 | 00:00:00

Among the three traditional markets of the US, the EU and Japan, the US was still the major market of Vietnam’s tuna, accounting for 46 percent of the country’s total tuna export turnover.

In the first ten months of 2011, the total export value of Vietnam’s tuna to the market reached nearly USD 145 million. The following market is the EU. So far, Vietnam has exported tuna to 21 countries of the EU, of which Germany, Italy and Belgium were the three largest markets of Vietnam’s tuna.

VASEP reported that the forecast is good for Vietnam’s tuna exports for the rest of the year. However, in the long-term, Vietnam’s tuna sector needs better policies to create a closer connection between fishermen and processing businesses in order to be able to further improve the competitiveness of Vietnam’s tuna products in the world’s markets.
