Vietnam to celebrate 8 major holidays in a year

Prime Mininister just signed to issue Decree No. 154/2013/ND-CP stipulating organization of holidays, memorial days, festival, ceremonial forms of receiving awards, decorations, and emulation titles, diplomat rituals for foreign guest reception. The Decree comes into force from and on December 16, 2013.As ruled by Article 4, the major holidays of the State includes:1. Traditional Tet Holiday (the first of lunar January)2. Date of establishment of Communist Party of Vietnam (February 2)3. Hung Vuong Kings’ death anniversary (the third of lunar October)4. Date of South liberation and Nation Unification Day (April 30)5. Victory Day of Dien Bien Phu (May 7)6. Birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19)7. August Revolution Day (August 19)8. National Day (September 2) Article 26 rules on process of awards, prizes, and emulation titles as follows:1. The host of the receiving ceremony should be representatives of sectors, ministries, departments, provincial People’s Committee, and organizers2. The ceremony is not allowed to be organized on its own but along side with major holidays of the State or the day of establishment of such sectors, ministries, departments, provincial People’s Committee, and organizers or under summing-up conference with detail agenda as ruled by this Decree.3. Announcement, award, and reception are made once per awarding decision without marching or procession from place to place, from one level to another.4. Leader of the collective being praised shall directly receive the decision, forms, and title for the collective. For individual being praised, the reception is direct by such individual. In the event of considerate entitlements to families, reprensentatives of families shall receive.5. The order of awarding is from high to low, collectives prior to individuals, fresh awards prior to awards after reconsideration.6. During the process of award and title handing, unauthorized persons are not allowed to give flowers, take pictures, or film on stage.Reported by Nguyen Cao – Translated by Vi Bao
