Vietnam tops Vovinam Championships

The Vietnamese Vovinam martial arts delegation has won the second World Vovinam Championships that took place in Ho Chi Minh City from July 28-30.

 

 The Vietnamese Vovinam martial arts delegation has won the second World Vovinam Championships that took place in Ho Chi Minh City from July 28-30.

 The host martial artists secured golds in the Nhat nguyet dai dao, Da luyen tay khong, Da luyen vu khi nu, and Song luyen kiem events on July 30.

 In the men’s under 82kg category final, Vietnamese Van Tuan turned the table on his strong rival Abdelhak from Algeria to grab the 19th gold medal for Vietnam. His fellow female athlete, Phuong Thi Thoa, defeated Algeria’s Ouiza Moklat in the women's under 65kg category, bringing Vietnam its 20th gold medal.

 Vietnam successfully defended its Vovinam championship title with a total of 20 gold, four silver and two bronze medals, while Iran and France came in second and third, respectively.
