Vietnam considers France one of its key tourism markets and it wants to expand tourism cooperation with the European country.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai made the statement at a meeting with National Secretary of the French Communist Party (FCP) Pierre Laurent on the sidelines of the 84th L’Humanite Press Festival on the outskirts of Paris on September 11.

Hai said he hopes France will continue to support Vietnam in the field of sports by sending experts to the country to work with and train young athletes. He specifically asked for assistance in popularising Vovinam-Martial Arts of Vietnam to the world.

At the reception, Pierre Laurent recounted the long-standing relations between the two countries over past decades and expressed his great pleasure at Vietnam’s participation in the festival as a guest of honour.

He also articulated his satisfaction with the success of the Vietnam Year in France in 2014 celebrations being held throughout France which have contributed to elevating cooperative ties, most notably in the field of tourism.

The Vietnamese pavilion at the festival introduced foreign visitors to the tangible and intangible cultural heritage and tourism potential of Vietnam, with the assistance of Saigontourist, VIETRAVEL, Tourgate (Danang) and La Palanche.

The event provided a golden opportunity for Vietnam to extol its tourism potential to French and the world community, contributing to further promoting the nation’s tourism industry in the coming time.
