Vietnam, UK promote cultural exchange

Various activities took place during the Vietnam-UK Cultural Day in HCM City on June 8 to mark the 40th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties. Visitors, mainly students, had the chance to watch movies and join a photographic exhibition on education and training in the UK as well as information on study opportunities there.They were also introduced to cultural traditions and customs of Vietnam and the UK through paintings, sculptural works, music performance, and fashion shows.Stephen Agnew, UK Deputy Consul General in HCM City, said the event aimed to strengthen friendship and promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two countries.He noted with satisfaction the fine development of the Vietnam-UK relations through regular visit exchanges by senior officials from both countries.More sports and cultural events will be held during the UK Week, scheduled for September 2013, to foster bilateral cooperation in trade, education, and science and technology, he added.VOV
