Vietnamese U22 football squad gathers in preparation for the 31st SEA Games

Update: 11-05-2021 | 12:39:02

Yesterday of May 10, Vietnamese U22 football squad officially joined forces in Hanoi to be ready for the 31st SEA Games, taking place later this year at home. The ultimate goal of Coach Park Hang Seo's team is to successfully defend the gold medal that the team achieved two years ago in the Philippines. The gathering had 30 players called up to check and evaluate the squad towards the 31st SEA Games of 2021 and the U23 Asian championship qualifying round of 2022. Binh Duong midfielder Viet Cuong was also named at this gathering. Currently, he is the captain of U22 team.

Unfortunately, striker Nguyen Hoang was injured and could not focus on the team. The ideal striker has been watched by Coach Park Hang Seo for a long time and is expected to become the major force of the squad for the 31st SEA Games. In addition, 4 players of the People's Public Security Forces including Van Dat, Duy Kien, Minh Binh and Van Phuong were unable to participate because they are under quarantine for Covid-19 prevention after traveling on the same flight with 2 F1 cases of Covid-19 patient in Gia Lai.

For these shortcomings, the U22 training board of Vietnam decided to summon two new figures, namely Tay Van Toan and Nguyen Trong Long. After joining the squad, the whole team will be medically examined and taken samples for RT-PCR tests to ensure the prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemic.
