Vietnam's objection against reclamation activities on islands, shoals

Update: 28-09-2015 | 16:01:15

Vietnam has adequate legal and historical evidence affirming its sovereignty over Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagos, said Deputy Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang.

Hang made the remarks in response to reporters’ questions over Vietnam’s reaction to Chinese leaders’ recent statements on Truong Sa and Hoang Sa in interviews with US media agencies.

She noted foreign countries’ reclamation activities on islands and shoals in Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos without Vietnam’s permission are illegal and made no sense.

The official said Vietnam vehemently opposes such actions and asked related parties to strictly abide by the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea.
