Building up long-term goals

In April 2013, the Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company or Vinamilk opened its powdered milk plant in the Vietnam-Singapore 1 Industrial Zone in Thuan An town. And the second plant of Vinamilk was also inaugurated around four months later in the My Phuoc 2 Industrial Zone in Ben Cat district.

Covering 20 hectares, the second plant has a cost of VND 2.4 trillion. The first phase of the plant will help Vinamilk increase its liquid milk production capacity by 400 million liters a year, the equivalent capacity of nine existing plants. The plant will have the capacity of 800 million liters each year in the second phase.

The plant is equipped with advanced technology Tetra Plant Master, enabling connection and integration on an automatic basis from feedstock input to the final product. The plant also has a six-hectare smart warehouse supplied by Germany’s SSI Schaefer Company, allowing goods arrangement conducted automatically by robots.

With the above production technology, the plant  is one of the world's most modern milk factories in Viet Nam. It is expected to help domestic consumers enjoy the best milk product as well as export high-quality Vietnamese milk to foreign markets. And it will be also an important foundation to help Vinamilk become one of the world’s top 50 milk companies and realize its revenue target of US$3 billion in 2017.

Mai Kieu Lien, Chairwoman and General Director of Vinamilk said that Vinamilk has set its targets of striving to hold a 50% market share for powdered milk, 60% for liquid milk…Vinamilk is making efforts to reach the set targets, bringing great benefit customers.

For development orientations in the 2010 and 2015 period, vision till 2020, Vinamilk has aimed at becoming the most biggest milk producer in Vietnam and in the region. Vinamilk has applied the most advanced technologies in production with the goal of creating international standard products with reasonable price compared to other imported milk.

Taking initiative in making material supplies

In addition to its five dairy cow farms in Tuyen Quang, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Binh Dinh and Lam Dong, Vinamilk in 2014 will build additional two farms in Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh with each facility of 3,000 cows.

The project of Vinamilk’s dairy cow farm in Tay Ninh is under completion of administrative procedures. Once completed, it will own around 10,000 dairy cows. Meanwhile, the project of Thong Nhat dairy cow farm in Thanh Hoa is expected to be licensed in the near future. The 2,600-hectare facility will become a big dairy farm with a herd of 26,000 head, helping Vinamilk raise its localization rate from 30% to 40%.

It is expected that Vinamilk will put its fresh milk plant in New Zealand into operation in September 2014. So far, Vinamilk has developed 9 yoghurt plants and now considers to invest in building a yoghurt plant in HCM city’s district 12 with around 4.5 hectares in total. The project will be implemented in 2016.

In fact, Vinamilk’s products have been selected at many markets and its export value has constantly risen up. Since early this year, Vinamilk has reached export contracts valued at more than VND4.7trillion, equivalent to around US$230mln, up 10% compared to the corresponding period last year. Vinamilk is also expected to achieve its annual export growth of 10%-15%.

Noticeably, Vinamilk has just been given the green light to export its products to the US market, making it the first Vietnamese dairy company to do so. Accordingly, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given the registration number to Vinamilk, coded VNM on Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, so that it can export products to the US at any time.
