Voluntary summer for social welfare

During the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, various programs and activities aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged people have been actively carried out by the local youth. These efforts contribute to ensuring social welfare and spreading the spirit of compassion within the community.

Community connection

At the events launching the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, provincial Youth Unions at all levels organized projects to distribute gifts to students and people with difficult circumstances. Tan Uyen city’s Youth Union, in collaboration with the city’s Young Entrepreneurs Association, awarded 47 scholarships to disadvantaged students and gave 10 gifts for young workers in need. Additionally, they provided free medical examinations and medicine worth VND 1.8 million each for over 200 local residents.

Tran Thien Loc, Secretary of Tan Uyen city’s Youth Union stated: “With the spirit of volunteering, ensuring social welfare during the summer campaign will be the priority for the city’s Youth Union, aiming at taking care of policy beneficiaries, disadvantaged youth and children. The city’s Youth Union strives to meet and exceed the set targets, including repairing at least two compassionate or “Red Scarf” houses for policy beneficiary families with difficult circumstances and collecting 350 smart devices for the community”.

To implement the summer campaign, provincial Youth Unions at all levels have promoted the "Community Connection" initiative to link social welfare resources. They have also mobilized individuals, businesses and organizations to support disadvantaged students through programs such as “Giving strength to school”, “Volunteer soldiers' day of action supporting disadvantaged children”… Additionally, provincial Youth Unions at all levels organized volunteer activities to support policy beneficiary families, families with difficult circumstances, lonely elderly people; built compassionate, gratitude houses and “Red scarf” ones…

 

Support in difficult areas

Social welfare activities have been carried out by provincial Youth Union Executive Committee during the campaign, focusing on remote, rural, ethnic minority, and religious areas, as well as young workers in industrial zones and at lodging facilities…., thereby enhancing the spirit of youth volunteer, sharing and promoting compassion within the community.

With the humanitarian purpose and meaning, provincial Youth Federation has just collaborated with Linh Quang pagoda in Bau Bang district to visit and offer gifts to the local disadvantaged ethnic and religious people. They visited and offered 20 gifts to needy residents, with a total value of VND 10 million.

A highlight of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign was the "Pink Vacation - Green Summer" campaign. This campaign left a good impression on Binh Duong’s youngsters, especially through the “Binh Duong Youth for Homeland Sea and Islands” journey in Binh Thuan province’s Phu Quy district. During the journey, provincial Youth Union carried out social welfare activities, helping 200 disadvantaged people receive health check-ups, access medical services and receive essential gifts. Provincial Youth Union also visited and donated gifts to fishermen with difficult circumstances, encouraging them to continue their efforts at sea.

Moreover, provincial Youth Union directed local Youth Unions to organize free medical examinations, medicine distribution and give gifts for disadvantaged young workers and laborers at lodging facilities. These activities aimed at strengthening solidarity, gathered young workers and promoted the volunteer spirit of the Youth Union in caring for workers, contributing to the local socio-economic development.

During the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, which runs until the end of August 2024, the local youth will strive to build or repair at least ten compassionate and “Red Scarf” houses and support at least 1,000 disadvantaged children.
