In the face of the resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic with unpredictable complicated developments, localities in the province have had response plans, ensuring that Covid-19 prevention and control are implemented effectively and the elections take place as planned.

Measures against pandemic promoted

Over the past few days, the province attached special importance to Covid-19 prevention and control at the polling stations while strengthening propaganda against the pandemic among the people. This has helped voters feel secure and excited. Voter Nguyen Thi Thom in Phu My ward’s quarter 8 in Thu Dau Mot city shared: “In the face of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic with complicated developments, I’m also worried about my health as well as my family’s health. However, through propaganda on how to prevent and control the pandemic as well as good preparation of pandemic prevention and control measures at polling stations, I feel very secure and get ready to vote on May 23." She also expressed her agreement with the action plans of the candidates and wished that if being elected, the candidates will continue making contributions to socio-economic development and take care of people's lives.

Provincial Election Committee inspects election work at polling stations in Tan Uyen town

All localities in the province are focusing on ensuring good preparation for the elections while ensuring effective pandemic prevention and control. Nguyen Thi My Hanh, Chairwoman of Tan Phuoc Khanh ward’s People's Council, Chairwoman of the ward’s Election Committee in Tan Uyen town said that the ward’s Election Committee has assigned tasks of Covid-19 prevention and control to each member of the election sub-committees. The measures for Covid-19 prevention and control were also strictly applied at the meetings with voters in the ward over the past days.

Simultaneously, election propaganda was also carried out by man forms in association with effective pandemic prevention and control such as visual propaganda through banners, panels, posters and slogans; social networking groups Zalo, Facebook, Fanpage; leaflets, legal brochures; mobile vehicles... Huynh Van Tung, Chairman of the People's Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Election Committee of Tan Binh ward in North Tan Uyen District said: “For the elections to take place safely and successfully, the ward’s Election Committee has closely directed the local electoral organizations to well ensure material facilities for the elections, and highly concentrate on Covid-19 prevention and control. At all polling stations in the ward must strictly comply with the "5K" message of the Ministry of Health. On the other hand, the ward has strengthened inspection, supervision on Covid-19 prevention and control plans in each polling area and each election team while preparing backup plans, being ready to response to the situations of the pandemic occurring on election day to ensure safety for pandemic prevention and the election plan.

Be proactive to prepare response plans

In the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure, Tan Uyen town has 131 polling stations with nearly 298,000 voters. Nguyen Huu Tri, Permanent Vice-Secretary of Tan Uyen town’s Party Committee, Chairman of the town’s People's Council, Chairman of the town’s Election Committee said that the town’s Election Committee has opportunely grasped documents by higher authorities, actively led and directed election preparation in association with Covid-19 prevention and control. Tan Uyen town has prepared a response plan to ensure safety for pandemic prevention-control and election plans; prepare plans and scenarios against the pandemic in accordance with each level; thoughtfully prepare 3 isolation areas in the locality…This will ensure good control of pandemic prevention and control from now until the election day. The town's People's Committee has also approved plans against the pandemic at the polling stations of communes and wards. The town has also strengthened mobile teams against the pandemic, concentrated medical isolation areas, getting ready to respond to the pandemic; fully equipped with material facilities against the pandemic during the election period.

The response plans to ensure Covid-19 prevention-control and the election plan have also been prepared thoughtfully by North Tan Uyen district. Le Van Quy, Vice-Chairman of the district’s People's Council, Vice-Chairman of the district’s Election Committee said: "The preparations for the elections in the district have been done thoughtfully, methodically under the law. The district has also had good preparations for Covid-19 prevention and control on the election day... All polling stations must comply with the message "5K" of the Ministry of Health …”.

Before the local good preparations and strict assurance of Covid-19 prevention and control, voters feel very secure, excited and get ready to exercise their rights, obligations and responsibilities on May 23 ahead.

In the face of the complicated and unpredictable developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, provincial People's Committee has issued a plan to ensure people’s health and necessary conditions for human resources, medical equipment and supplies to cope with all levels and situations of Covid-19 pandemic that may occur during the process of organizing the elections…
