Update: 18-04-2023 | 14:51:08

As dreams are free of charge, so to make the dream of soon bringing Vovinam to the world in tournaments of ASIAD or Olympic come true. In such arenas, the impression and role of Mai Huu Tin – the President of Vietnam Vovinam Federation (VVF), just re-chosen in the 4th in 2023-2028, cum President of WVVF, have become major.

Mai Huu Tin, President of VVF and WVVF, aims to bring Vovinam to the world, soon appearing in prestigious playgrounds such as ASIAD or Olympic Games

Going step by step firmly to help Vovinam - Vietnam's martial art has had 85 years of development and is present in 70 countries across five continents, which is the goal that VVF leaders have achieved. To be able to participate in the ASIAD or Olympic arenas, Vovinam first needs to become an official sport at the SEA Games. Having participated in two consecutive Southeast Asian Games (2021 and 2023), just once again it became an official martial art at SEA Games 33 in Thailand in 2025, Vovinam will become an official sport at each SEA Games.

And for Vovinam to become an official sport at each SEA Games, from now on, President Mai Huu Tin and members of VVF have taken firm steps to build for the future. Accordingly, VVF will actively mobilize countries in Southeast Asia and host Thailand to bring Vovinam to compete at the 33rd SEA Games. Before that, VVF will help Thailand prepare a force of athletes and teams, organize the Vovinam tournament system in Thailand. At the same time, VVF conducts professional training for coaches and athletes from countries in the region to supports countries in the ASEAN to establish a national Vovinam Federation to enhance the position of Vovinam in the regional countries.

“When asked why I chose to learn Vovinam instead of martial arts that have participated in the world famous Olympic playground such as Taekwondo, Judo or Karatedo, the most common answer I received from the disciples was because Vovinam represents Vietnam or the strength of a small country that has won over some of the biggest powers in the world. They diligently practice Vovinam and work hard to learn the Vietnamese language to understand more about Vietnamese culture,” said Mai Huu Tin, President of VVF and President of WVVF.
