Water collection day takes place jubilantly

To raise youths’ awareness of the importance of waste classification, provincial Youth Union has just coordinated with Binh Duong Water Supply, Drainage and Environment  Co.Ltd.’s waste treatment facility to organize a waste collection day to raise money for the scholarship fund named “Giao mam tri thuc” (Nurturing intellectuals).

Pham Ngoc Hoai, an environmental protection expert said that the whole province has a total of more than 3,000 tons of various waste daily discharged. It is predicted that there will be around 1,280 tons of urban waste daily discharged by 2015. Hence, waste classification at source is an urgent requirement. This step will contribute to reducing the amount of daily waste, saving State budget, avoiding rampant exploitation of natural resources and preventing environmental pollution.

Luong Ngoc Han, a Youth Union members of Phu Tho ward in TDM city said: “Coming the festive day, I understood more about the significance of waste classification and environmental protection. I will call for the local youths to collect various waste paper to support the scholarship fund “Nurturing intellectuals”.

Over the past time, provincial Youth Union developed many effective models on environmental protection, contributing to creating a green, clean and nice living environment. Di An town and Tan Uyen district collected 2 tons of waste and all money from this waste amount was raised for the local scholarship fund for poor-but-excellent pupils.

According to Pham Hong Thang, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union, this is a start of the program “Collecting waste for recycling” co-held by Binh Duong Water Supply, Drainage and Environment  Co.Ltd.’s waste treatment facility and trade unions in the province. All money collected from the program will be used to award scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils…The program also aims to call for Youth Union members and people to classify waste at source to protect the environment and prevent climate change.

Many significant activities on environmental protection were also organized during the festive day, helping the local youths’ awareness of environmental protection and climate change.
