Women in Binh Duong in Unity – Responsitility – Creativity - Development

On December 26 and 27, the 11th provincial Congress of Women in 2021-2026 was held with 189 officially attending delegates. This is a congress of consensus and determination towards realizing the goals for equality and progress of women. Binh Duong newspaper reporter had an interview with Ms. Truong Thanh Nga, Chairwoman of the Women's Union at the congress.

- Madam, please inform the operation achievements of all levels in the past tenure.

- Over the past 5 years, Binh Duong women have continued to promote the tradition of good moral qualities of Vietnamese women, being proactive and creative in labor, work, study, and perform well their roles and responsibilities in the family and society, well implement patriotic emulation movements.

Officials, members and women have affirmed their roles and contributions in all fields, social life and the development of Binh Duong homeland. The percentage of women participating in Party committees at all levels is increasing, reaching 27.8% - an increase of 4.8% compared to the previous term, of female cadres creatively applying guidelines of the Party, policies and laws of the State in their fields of work to actively reform administrative procedures, apply information technology, and contribute to building effective and efficient administration.

Binh Duong provincial Association of Women visit and offer gifts to frontline forces of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control

During the tenure, associations at all levels have built and replicated 219 models, clubs, groups, typical work of following President Ho Chi Minh in the community; 774 advanced role models of best practices have been discovered and introduced. The strong point and breakthrough in the 2016-2021 term is the campaigns to promote the active and creative roles of women in propagandizing and mobilizing family members and the community to carry out safe food production and business operations in joint hands to build cultural and civilized lifestyle, ensuring security and order and protecting the environment.

Associations at all levels undertake and effectively implement 454 works and activities participating in the construction of new rural areas and civilized cities; they have built 36 models of "Women's Association of 5 no, 3 clean" as 231,768 families met the standards. 1,820 households have been helped to achieve 8 criteria of "5 no, 3 clean" (455 households compared with the plan), contributing with the locality to bring 100% of communes up to the new rural standard in the whole province.

In particular, the work of gratitude, charity, caring for Vietnamese heroic mothers, helping policy families, and disadvantaged women are held regularly. Many models have become highlights in the implementation of social security policies of associations at all levels to attract many organizations and individuals to join in supporting women and children not to leave any one behind.

During the term, associations at all levels have mobilized nearly VND 28 billion to give 42,038 gifts to support women and children in extremely difficult circumstances to stabilize their lives.

- Over the past year, the whole political system has joined in to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic and the Association of Women has made a significant contribution. Could you please tell us about the programs and the work that the association has done?

- Regarding epidemic prevention and control, it can be said that officials, members, and women have been involved since the very beginning. The Association of Women at all levels have mobilized 603 volunteers in the association system to participate in the prevention of the COVID-19 epidemic. The Standing Board of the provincial Association of Women has directed associations at all levels to carry out epidemic prevention and control in accordance with actual local conditions by promoting propaganda to the people on documents issued by the central government, the province, the epidemic prevention and control steering committee on the implementation of Directive 16 of the Prime Minister, the "5K" message of Ministry of Health while implementing good social distancing and supporting the "lockdown frozen" areas.

The key programs can be mentioned as the program that each staff member and woman saves at least VND 5,000 a supporter of the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Fund and purchases vaccines launched by the province. The provincial Association has organized a delegation to visit frontline forces in epidemic prevention and control, medical centers, women's police officers of the province, the military, 5D and 5B field hospitals, quarantine and treatment areas, etc. are leading organizations in supporting women and children affected by the epidemic.

Overview of the preparation for the 11^th congress of Association of Women of Binh Duong province in 2021-2026 tenure

In addition, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union proposed to the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee of the province, organizations, businesses and individuals... to pay attention to help disadvantaged people, pregnant women and children. Children in quarantine areas, rental houses with the rate of VND 500,000 a person outside of the entitlement regime according to the Resolution 68. Specifically, the provincial Association of Women has received support from 25 provinces and cities across the nation, the central government, organizations and individuals with a total value of more than VND 14.8 billion. The Central Association supported VND 610 million to take care of women infected by COVID-19; they have also visited midwives' families, frontline forces and union officials, organizations inside and outside the province and offered nearly VND 4.9 billion of help. The provincial Association cooperated with the Thien Tam Fund (Vingroup) and the provincial Women's Entrepreneurs Association to receive support for 312 orphans whose parents died because of COVID-19. The districts, towns, and cities also have meaningful, practical and remarkable programs of anti-COVID-19 activities.

- Can you evaluate the programs and work of all-level association to welcom the Congress of Women in 2021-2026 tenure?

- Towards the Congress of Women's Associations at all levels, the province has launched a movement to register for the implementation of programs and tasks right from the beginning of 2021. To celebrate the provincial Women's Congress, 110 works have been carried. I appreciate these works because of their practicality and the direct beneficiaries are children, disadvantaged women, people in rural areas, and female workers working away from home.

The meaningful actions of charitable housing for poor women or offering women to make ends meet, donation of bikes and notebooks to students at school, street lighting, care-taking of Vietnamese heroic mothers, etc.
