Women in Phuoc Hoa: Many models help poor women rise up

Studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, the Women's Union of Phuoc Hoa commune in Phu Giao district has helped many poor members get more sources of income, stabilizing their lives, rising up out of poverty via practical, meaningful deeds, contributing to building up a stronger and stronger Women’s Union.

Supporting poor members

Over the past time, studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle of Phuoc Hoa communal Women's Union was associated with practical and effective deeds, including the model of "Giving livelihoods", helping poor members stabilize their lives.

Do Thi Hai, living in hamlet 1B, has a difficult situation. Her husband died early and she has raised children alone. Knowing her difficult situation, the communal Women's Union gave her a livelihood with 100 breeding chickens. The association also supported her to access preferential loans to invest more in raising sows, pigs for meat, ducks, etc. to create an income source for her family and improve her life. With her efforts in raising livestock and doing business effectively, so far, her family has escaped poverty, with a more and more stable life. She said emotionally: "Fortunately, thanks to the livelihood support of the communal Women's Union, I have an income source and my family's life is more and more stable."

Similarly, Luu Thi Hao was given her livelihood by the communal Women's Union, creating more incomes for her family. “During difficult times, I was given a livelihood by the local Women's Union to open a stall selling vegetables and fruits in the market. Thanks to that, I have a source of income to take care of my family's life", she shared. Not only being given a livelihood, her family was also donated a charity house from the local Women's Union. The communal Women's Union also set up an appropriate plan to "follow Uncle Ho's teachings". Officials and Party members of the association have well saved time, household expenses, electricity, water, stationery... while focusing on improving working styles scientifically, grasping their thoughts and aspirations for timely support solutions. The association has also set up working regulations, thereby setting out plans to help and urge the effective implementation of its activities, targets and tasks in the year... As a result, all cadres and civil servants have well completed their tasks. There have been 100% cadres with the title of “good cadre”, over 96% of cadres, members, and women with the title of “advanced woman”.

Along with that, the association has directed sectors and groups to promote and improve the effectiveness of activities helping women develop homebased business to get rich legitimately through the movements of capital support without interest, loan support on credit from the Bank for Social Policies. In addition, the association has also mobilized women with economic conditions to support capital for disadvantaged women to develop their economy and stabilize their lives. Particularly, in the model of "saving day for poor women", from mobilized capital, the association has considered and provided loans for members with difficult circumstances for economic development and sustainable poverty reduction. In addition, with the model of "Giving strength to poor women" in association branches and groups, members voluntarily pay VND 5,000 every month. So far, the model has helped 24 members with difficult circumstances. The association has given regular and unexpected support of rice for 8 poor, single women and 4 poor children...

Especially, under the model of "raising piggy banks economically to reduce poverty and buy health insurance for officials, members and women", the association has so far raised 216 individual piggy banks and 1 collective piggy bank. From the fund, the association has bought 72 health insurance cards for members and helped 14 women get loans for economic development... In addition, implementing the livelihood model, the association has mobilized organizations and individuals to support capital for members with extremely difficult circumstances to develop homebased business while coordinating with loan groups to consider lending money to 366 poor, near-poor households and other subjects with a total amount of more than VND17 billion to develop homebased business, helping stabilize their lives and rise up out of poverty...

Nguyen Ngoc Phuong, Chairwoman of Phuoc Hoa communal Women's Union said that in the coming time, the association will further propagandize and mobilize cadres, Party members and women to actively study and follow late President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle by concrete and practical actions, thereby helping them constantly improve their awareness of politics, ideology, morality and lifestyle, contributing to building up happy, equal, advanced and happy families.
