Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on May 18 issued an order to kick off construction of two tunnels in Phu Loc district, central Thua Thien-Hue province.
The Phuoc Tuong and Phu Gia tunnels on National Highway 1A will be built with a total cost of over 1.7 trillion VND (83 million USD) under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model.
The 345-metre Phuoc Tuong and 497-metre Phu Gia tunnels are both 11.5 metres wide and include two lanes for vehicles.
The projects are expected to be completed within 18 months.
On the same day, Deputy PM Phuc also launched the construction of a project to expand National Highway 1A – the 32km section through the province’s Phong Dien district. The project has a total investment of more than 2.2 trillion VND (105 million USD).
