Workers in TDM town receive attention in all aspects

After three-year implementation of the Resolution No.20/NQ-TW of the 6th session of the 10th Party Central Executive Committee on “Further building Vietnam’s working class in the period of accelerated national modernization and industrialization” ( or briefly called “the Resolution 20/TW”), TDM town’s workers have received attention in all aspects…

TDM town has so far developed 6 industrial parks with 208 projects from 28 domestic businesses and 180 FDI businesses, 90 of which have put into operation. The town is now also home to more than 65,700 civil servants-workers, 63% of whom are immigrant workers.

Raising awareness of the law among workers

TDM town’s Trade Unions at all levels have always focused on realizing the law dissemination with the contents relating to the Labor Code, the Law on Trade Union, prevention on drugs, prostitution, traffic safety…among workers to effectively implement the Resolution 20/TW.

 

They have organized the above dissemination work via many forms. Noticeably, they have implemented the Resolution 20/TW in association with the campaign of “Studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals” among workers and civil servants.

In addition, TDM town’s Trade Unions at all levels have paid attention to the legal consultancy among workers and civil servants, contributing to raising their awareness about obeying the law as well as protecting their legitimate rights and interests. Over the past three years, they gave the legal consultancy on social insurance, salary policies…for 1,236 workers.

Upholding the effectiveness of trade union organization

Implementation of the Resolution 20/TW has also contributed to enhancing the operational effectiveness of the trade union organization.

Over the past three years, TDM town’s Labor Union organized dialogues with the local businesses to extend the Labor Law; teamed up with relevant agencies to organize talk shows between the local leaders and trade union locals’ officials to listen to workers’ aspirations for timely and satisfactory solutions.

As of late 2010, 100% of TDM town-based businesses signed labor deals with 11,512 out of 12,656 laborers; there were 11,165 out of 12,656 laborers joining in social insurance; 70 and 72 out of 85 businesses set up conciliation councils and labor protection councils, respectively…

The local Trade Unions at all levels have also paid more attention to the lives of workers and civil servants. Particularly, they set up a loan-rotating fund with VND1.45bln, helping 952 workers and civil servants develop homebased business; visited and presented gifts to workers suffering from labor accidents and those with hard circumstances; granted scholarships for the offspring of workers and civil servants…

Between 2008 and 2010, TDM town’s Trade Unions at all levels teamed up with the local relevant agencies, vocational training centers and businesses to open vocational-oriented and continuation classes for workers; mobilized businesses to give vocational training to workers at their requirements. As surveyed, there are now 1,536 out of 16,190 laborers at university and college levels, 3,085 out of 16.190 laborers at junior college level and 11,565 trained laborers…

TDM town’s Labor Union also admitted additional 5,570 unionists and set up 45 trade union locals at non-State businesses over the past three years.

TDM town’s Labor Union has frequently organized activities taking care of the spiritual life of workers and civil servants.
