Young Vietnam shuttlers to challenge for Asian glory

Five young Vietnamese prospects are set to compete at the 2013 Badminton Asia Youth U17 & U15 Championships, to be held in Kudus, Indonesia from October 8-13.

Vietnam is represented by Nguyen Binh Minh, Nguyen Thi Tham, Nguyen Thuy Linh, Tran Truong Bao Vy and Nguyen Thi Phuong Ha.

In the U-15 age group, Minh and Tham will compete in the boys’ and girls’ singles, respectively, and will also contend for a mixed doubles title together. The other three will compete in the U-17 girls’ singles and doubles events.

Thuy Linh is the star of the Vietnamese lineup. The 16-year-old Da Nang city native has recorded impressive achievements of late, including a bronze medal at the National Individual Badminton Championships last month and three gold medals at the National Youth Badminton Championships last July.
