Upholding the spirit of “Dau can thanh nien co, dau kho co thanh nien” (The youth will be always there to offer help to those in need), Binh Duong’s youth have made a lot of practical works, greatly contributing to the National Target Program on Building New-Style Rural Areas.
Youth works
Provincial Youth Unions at all levels have carried out many effective movements in building new-style rural areas. The “Lightening rural roads” movement is a typical example for this. Particularly, provincial Youth Union in collaboration with Binh Duong Electricity Company realized the movement in Bau Bang district’s Cay Truong commune with 171 compact lamps together with many other devices installed on rural roads of 4km with total expense of VND96mln.
So far, the “Lighting rural roads” movement has been promoted across the province with a total of 146 km of rural roads upgraded.
By significant and concrete actions, young people in the province have actively got involved in building infrastructure facilities, protecting the environment, promoting production models and keeping social order in rural areas. Provincial Youth Union realized 8 provincial-level youth works, upgraded rural roads of 4km with total expense of more than VND650mln; presented 14 works on clean water worth VND70mln to poor youngsters over the past time.
Production models promoted
Provincial Youth Unions at all levels have boosted dissemination of information about the shift of plant and animal structure and helped Youth Union members develop production models. Many youngsters have actively applied sci-tech advancements into production and promoted the shift of plant and animal structure, greatly contributing to the local cause of agricultural and rural industrialization and modernization.
Just being at the age of 21, Cao Huu Tri residing in Phu Giao district’s Tam Lap commune now possesses a rubber and tangerine farm of more than 3 hectares. On average, the farm brings him the annual income of more than VND360mln. Although being very busy, he has still actively got involved in activities of the Youth Union and other mass organizations. He has always been in the vanguard of the local Youth Union movements.
Pham Hong Thang, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union said that over the past time, provincial Youth Union set up 57 cooperative groups on economic development, 56 production models and 2 cooperatives. Provincial Youth Unions at all levels also actively made dissemination of information of the content and significance of the new rural construction program to create a change in awareness and action of the local youngsters in this program.
With their flexibility and volunteer, the local youngsters have continued effectively promoting the program on building new-style rural areas.
Under the project of “Supporting youth to set themselves up in business, rising up out of poverty”, since 2011, there has been a total of 157 loan-giving groups managed by provincial Youth Unions at all levels in 57 communes, wards and townships. The total outstanding loans under the management of provincial Youth Unions at all levels for poor households and policy beneficiaries have amounted to VND100.816bln. They have also implemented a cow project for poverty reduction; organized 75 classes on vocational training, sci-tech transfer for 1,597 youngsters; established and maintained loan giving programs with more than VND1.11bln…
