Youth’s volunteer summer campaign 2018: Creativity, volunteer for community

June 2, the Standing Committe of Provincial Youth’s League organized a ceremony dispatching for youth’s volunteer summer campaign in 2018 at Phan Boi Chau Senior High School at Minh Hoa Commune, Dau Tieng District. On the occassion Binh Duong Newspaper reporter interviewed Doan Nam Le Thien, the Deputy Chairman of Provincial Vietnamese Federation of Youths cum Standing Head of Youth’s Volunteer Summer Campaign 2018 regarding the major activities of local youths in the meaningful campaign.

- What is the theme of Binh Duong Youth’s Volunteer Summer Campaign 2018 and what has the standing committee of Provincial Youth’s League planed for activities of this campaign, sir?

- This year campaign is under the theme of “Binh Duong youths in creativity for community volunteer” from June 2 to the end of August 31, 2018 across communities of difficulties in the provinces of Mekong Delta, borderlines, and islands to promote maximum competence and profession of participating members. The campaign includes 5 major programs specifically “Tiep suc mua thi” (assistance on examinations), “Chien dich mua he xanh” (volunteer summer), “Chien dich Hoa phuong do” (adolescence compaign), “Chien dich ky nghi hong” (poverty assistance campaign), and “Chien dich Hanh quan xanh” (green marching champaign).

Youth volunteer activities this summer continue to be divided into 3 areas: In the province is in the commune to point the construction of new rural, urban civilization; remote communes, difficult areas; densely populated areas, places of residence, etc. Activities outside the province will be directed to difficult, mountainous, border and island areas. Particularly, the Students' Association and the Youth Union organize a volunteer activity in Phu Quy island district (Binh Thuan province) and a volunteer program at Hon Chuoi island (Ca Mau province). For overseas activities, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee will coordinate with other agencies in Champasak (Laos), Kampong Thom (Cambodia); In addition, it also organizes cultural exchanges and cultural exchanges with youths from Korea and Japan.

- For the mentioned theme, what are major activities of this year campaign, sir?

- The Youth Volunteer Youth Campaign of 2018 in the province has 6 main activities: Participating in building new rural areas; To participate in the building of a civilized urban lifestyle, to maintain traffic order and safety; taking part in the settlement of social security issues, gratitude activities; activities towards the border and islands; environmental protection, coping with climate change, and childcare activities.

As far as border activities are concerned, the island will carry out 3 provincial youth projects in Phu Quy island district (Binh Thuan province) and Hon Chuoi island (Ca Mau province). Lighting the flag pole area in Phu Quy island district; The construction of a playground for children at Hai Au Kindergarten (north of Phu Quy island) and the construction of a playground for children at Hon Chuoi Island. organizing health check-ups, distributing medicine and giving gifts to disadvantaged people, environmental protection activities, organizing teaching and revision for children, social security activities and chapters of cultural exchange program, etc. with the total cost over VND 250 million.

- Can you inform more about the promising features of this year campaign?

Compared to previous years, the Volunteer Youth Campaign this summer has one more team than the previous nine squads. It is the 10th team named "Young knowledge, technology transfer". With the creativity, innovation, the team "knowledge of children, transfer of science and technology" will carry out the tasks related to science and technology, creative start up business; Conducting training courses to transfer science and technology to remote areas. This will also create opportunities for the youth union to promote the youth, meet the requirements of the campaign owner is "Binh Duong Youth in creativity and volunteer for the community."
