Binh Duong Trade Union to thoroughly prevent and fight against the epidemic

 To stimulate production while controlling and preventing the epidemic, provincial Labor Confederation directed all-level Trade Unions to take initiative in grasping the situation, implementing drastically the control, prevention, and fight against the Covid-19. In particular, grassroots labor unions did a good job of proposing, negotiating with employers to support partly the cost of face masks, hand sanitizers for workers.

 To strengthen epidemic prevention and control 

Binh Duong province attracts over 1.2 million laborers from other provinces and cities nationwide. Facing the complicated epidemic situation in Da Nang City and some provinces, cities in the country, many businesses in the province have re-activated measures to prevent the spreading among workers.

Rochdale Spears Company (Tan Uyen Town) has more than 4,400 employees. Most workers here wear masks, labor protection clothing, and use hand wash gel while working. To protect their employees, the company also equips 5 body temperature gauges for its health and security departments to regularly check temperature in the morning before starting a new shift and during working time in the factory. In particular, the company enhances cleaning in common areas, such as: Cafeteria, kitchen, toilets, door handles. The company also ordered a large number of face masks to deliver to all employees in case of an emergency. Nguyen Minh Hoang, Trade Union President of the company, said: “Wearing masks in the company is strictly controlled by our health and security department and included in the company's rules”.

To actively prevent the development of Covid-19, Vo Van Hiep, Trade Union vice president of Fujikura Fiber Optics Vietnam Company (Vietnam-Singapore industrial park), said: “In order to raise staff's awareness of epidemic prevention, the company posted notices about the nCoV epidemic at gateways, walkways, production areas, and on internal channels, like: In particular, the company checked employees, who had went to epidemic areas, like: Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City. After reviewing and screening, the company has no employees, who had gone to regions notified by Ministry of Health".

Meanwhile, representatives of Primacy Garment Company (My Phuoc industrial park, Ben Cat Town), said the company had several employees coming back from Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, Ha Noi, HCM City.  These employees did not go through areas notified by Ministry of Health, but are still in quarantine at home.

All-level Trade Unions join hands together

In order to regain the high spirit among workers, in recent days, trade unions at all levels in the province have actively joined hands with Party committees, authorities, experts to implement anti-epidemic solutions, such as: Propagation among workers about self-prevention, hand washing, wearing face masks, and voluntary medical declaration. Provincial Labor Confederation focused on dissemination of prevention measures of Covid-19, combined traditional channels with website, social networks like Facebook, Zalo...

Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Chairwoman of Provincial Labor Federation, said:    "To carry out the direction of provincial Party and PPC on strengthening prevention measures, provincial Labor Confederation asked all-level trade unions and subordinate units to implement seriously and effectively. Grassroots Trade Unions work closely with employers to effectively implement disease prevention measures, promote the role of trade union officials, instruct workers to actively clean their home and workplace, limit the passing through notified epidemic provinces if not necessary. In addition, trade unions advised business owners to regularly clean and disinfect working environment, deliver facemasks to workers, equip toilets with hand sanitizers, hand soaps, ensure food safety at collective kitchens, provide enough drinking water, clean water for employees, do good management of workers' health, early detect cases of infection, prevent the spread of coronavirus in agencies, units, businesses.

Provincial leaders directed grassroots trade unions to negotiate with employers for supporting all or part of the cost of face masks, hand sanitizers for workers. If the employer has no fund to support or only support partially, grassroots trade union will consider the existing financial resources to support this purchase. If both the grassroots trade union and the employer have no fund to support, the superior trade union will support this purchase.
