Dau Tieng tourism has huge potential for development

 An advantage to developing Dau Tieng tourism is many recognized cultural and historical monuments; beautiful natural landscapes, specialty orchards and new ecological tourist areas... However, for further development, in addition to the State's investment and socialization, Dau Tieng tourism industry needs to connect with many other localities to create attractive tourism products for tourists...

 Fascinating destination for tourists

Referring to the tourism potential of Dau Tieng District, some remarkable tourist attractions should be named like, Nui Cau ecological tourist area, Thai Son pagoda, Truc stream, and Dau Tieng reservoir. Besides, the district also has Dot Champa ecological tourist zone; historical-cultural relics, annual festivals and events of temples, pagodas, shrines etc. to attract many visitors.

There are also orchards, animal farms, models of salangane, mushroom, orchids growing, which are quite interesting to tourists. In particular, Thanh An commune, Thanh Tuyen also has orchards of specialty fruits, such as mangosteen and durian. A number of orchards welcome tourists to come and enjoy specialty fruits and regional cuisine.

In recent years, due to advantages of local natural conditions, available cultural and historical values, resorts, tourist sites, and festivals, the district have attracted numerous visitors. Dang Minh Phuoc, Head of Dau Tieng district Culture and Information Office, said the district had 20 recognized monuments, in which there was 1 national monument - the Headquarters of Ho Chi Minh campaign - and 19 historical and cultural relics of province-level. These are favorable conditions for the district to set up various types of heritage, religious and eco tours.

In recent years, tourism in Dau Tieng district has eyed a certain growth. The increasing number of tourists coming to Dau Tieng every year has proved that. According to statistics, the number of visitors to Dau Tieng in 2015 was over 300,000, and in 2019 it increased to over 550,000 visitors.

Orientations for development

Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet, Vice Chairwoman of Dau Tieng district People's Committee, said that the promotion of tourism potential and advantages was identified as one of the key tasks in the district's economic development period 2020-2025.  In the coming time, the district will continue mobilizing resources from State budget and socialization resources to invest in local tourist areas. Identify routes and tours, connect with tourist zones and spots within and outside the province. To concentrate investment in Nui Cau ecological tourist area - Dau Tieng reservoir, fruit orchards, farms to create tourism products, historical - cultural monuments in the district.

Tourism in Dau Tieng in recent years has indeed made a large stride. However, according to the local authorities' evaluation, there are still inadequacies, that is, tourism development has not been exploited effectively, mainly in the spontaneous direction, thus it has not really attracted tourists. The exploitation of tourism advantages is limited, the infrastructure system is not comprehensive, the communication and promotion of local tourism is not professional. The association and connection with other tourist sites to form routes and tours is inadequate. Accommodation, hotels, motels, and restaurants have not met standards and the demand for long-time stay or a large number of guests.

In order to develop tourism industry in the coming time, according to Ms. Tuyet, a comprehensive survey and assessment of the current tourism development status in the district is very important. Thereby, the competent authority will assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges to identify steps in line with the reality and must put Dau Tieng tourism in an open condition and in the link with regional tourism, like: Cu Chi Tunnels (Ho Chi Minh City), Ba Den Mountain (Tay Ninh), Iron Triangle Tunnels (Ben Cat Town). Another critical task is to identify tourism products for each tourist area in the district to create its own features, avoid duplicating other localities. In addition, the district will also put more effort in the promotion, branding Dau Tieng tourism in order to create features and attract tourists...
