To enthusiastically respond to

Mr. Loc said Provincial Fatherland Front Standing Committee had called for its member organizations, agencies, units, and localities in the province to organize propaganda activities, dissemination of General Secretary, State President's letter among civil servants, officials, workers, members, each residential area, and every citizen; at the same time actively encouraged civil servants, officials, workers, members, and classes of people to participate in VBD. With the message "Every blood drop to give - One life to be saved", this year's VBD launching ceremony received an enthusiastic participation of all classes of people in the province. In addition to Red Cross volunteers, the launch ceremony also attracted many civil servants, officials, workers and people. Particularly, at the launch ceremony, several provincial leaders, heads of departments, branches also participated in the donation of blood to contribute to bringing joy, happiness to those who are in need of blood treatment.

Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of Provincial Red Cross, said that at the launching ceremony, all classes of people, especially civil servants and officials participated in this activity very enthusiastically. In particular, many provincial leaders attending the launching ceremony also donated their blood. These beautiful images have a great meaning in encouraging people to participate in blood donation to save people, so that the VBD movement in the province would continue to develop and spread more widely.

Need to be expanded

Blood donation to save people is noble gesture that has and profound humanitarian meaning. Therefore, for many years, Vo Thi Giau (55 years old living in Tan An Ward, Thu Dau Mot City) has actively participated in voluntary blood donation to save people. Up to now, she has donated her blood 40 times. Besides, she also encouraged her son to join the blood donation to save people. Ms. Giau said: “My family's circumstance is also difficult, so we have nothing but the heart. Every time local government opens VBD, I often take part in this activity. Every time I go for a health checkup and be eligible for blood donation, I feel very happy. I want to donate blood as long as I can". The thought of Ms. Giau is also the thought of everyone participating in blood donation. Most of the respondents said that they were very happy that the blood donated would help save patients from critical medical conditions.

The VBD movement in the province has developed more deeply, and attracted a large number of people from all walks of life. However, currently the blood supply for emergency care and treatment for patients only meets about 70% of the demand. Especially, due to the very complicated development of the Covid-19, the blood supply is affected, facing many difficulties and there is a risk of serious shortage nationwide. In the province, from the beginning of the year, in order to perform well the prevention and control of the epidemic, many seasons of VBD in localities had also been postponed and stopped. Therefore, right after the social distancing was relaxed, VBD activities in the province was restarted.

At the launching ceremony, many provincial leaders, including of Provincial Party Secretary and nearly 700 civil servants and officials working in and outside of Provincial Administration Center, workers, and people came to register for blood donation. As a result, the organizers received 599 blood units. This amount of blood will help solve the current shortage of blood in health facilities. According to Mr. Loc, in the coming time, the demand for quantity and quality of blood for emergency cases is increasing. Therefore, he suggested that all levels, branches, agencies and units in the whole province should further enhance the VBD movement among the people, do well the propaganda and widespread campaign on the meaning of blood donation, creating transformation from awareness to action. Thereby, attracting a large number of people from all walks of life, union members to donate blood. “In the organizing process of blood donation, the units need to collaborate with the health sector to ensure the safety of blood reception and supply, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic, to ensure the safety of blood donors, blood recipients and the safety of health workers", said Mr. Loc.
