Green Bach Dang today

The 11^th Party Resolution of Bach Dang Commune (Tan Uyen Town), tenure 2015-2020, orient socio-economic development towards a green urban area, agriculture still plays a leading role. According to this orientation, in recent years, Bach Dang Commune has invested heavily in pomelo trees, encouraged people to develop tourism based on pomelo tree and this land’s characteristics.

Bach Dang Bridge connecting Bach Dang isle has created a motivation for development of this area.

To enhance the quality of new rural construction

Crossing Bach Dang Bridge, a quiet, green countryside full of rice and pomelo trees appears. Who has once come here, it is hard to forget honest locals, passionate aroma of pomelo, and the smell of ripe rice blended together. Vo Thi Bao Xuyen, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, Chairman of People's Committee of Bach Dang Commune, said that since the Bach Dang Bridge was inaugurated after 3 construction years, it has created a motivation for the development of this area. Following that, in 2013, Bach Dang Commune met new rural construction standards, and became the first new-rural-construction commune of Tan Uyen Town. With the orientation towards a green urban area without attracting industrial production, Bach Dang Commune has invested in improving the quality of new rural construction criteria.

The good results during the new rural construction process have created a favorable change for Bach Dang Commune and improved people's lives. In the first 6 months of 2019, Bach Dang Commune upgraded nine roads invested by the town project management board, with a total budget of nearly VND24.4 billion. People donated more than 6,500m2 of land to build rural roads. The environmental protection movement was organized regularly, attracted nearly 1,000 participants, making the roads bright, green, clean, and beautiful, planting more green trees and flowers. The movement "New-rural-construction households meet green, clean, beautiful, and bright criteria in 2019" was implemented effectively, promoted the role of people to beautify living space, contributing to the overall development of this isle. At present, the commune has planted over 4,000 flowers on roads, installed 457 lighting bulbs, with an expense of VND259 million, creating a new face for this area.

What people benefit from new rural construction is the synchronous socio-economic infrastructure.  Local economy has grown in the direction of combining of agricultural and trade service development. The material and spiritual life of locals is heightened. The commune has been continuously improving the quality of new rural construction criteria.

To arouse tourism potential

For a long time, pomelo tree has been tied with the lives of farmers in Bach Dang Commune, because this is one of the main crops helping many families to escape poverty and to thrive. This is also an advantage for Bach Dang to develop eco-tourism. Currently, the whole commune has a total area of ​​nearly 600 hectares of pomelo trees. Many pomelo gardens are supported by the State to apply VietGAP technology; hi-tech cultivation... Especially, since the successful registration of collective trademark "Bach Dang Pomelo", farmers' products have gained a foothold on the market.

With the advantage of a green urban area, Bach Dang Commune is part of the green tourism route of Tan Uyen Town. Accordingly, the commune is a destination for visitors to experience ecotourism at pomelo gardens, enjoy rustic dishes at local eateries, and visit historical sites in the commune. Ms. Xuyen said: “Over many generations, people in Bach Dang Commune have clung to this land for agriculture and continue to develop tourism on this land. In order to contribute to well organizing tours, Bach Dang Commune has made serious investment, promoted internal resources from the people, built and ensured good services for visitors”.

The commune has currently two historical - cultural relics classified as province-level relics, annually attracting about 5,000 visitors. This land is also known as the pomelo’s paradise with a total area of ​​about 600 hectares pomelo gardens. In early 2019, Bach Dang Commune cooperated and successfully organized the second Bach Dang Pomelo Festival, attracting more than 12,000 visitors, facilitating tourism development in the commune. The Bach Dang Pomelo Festival helped many people to know about Bach Dang pomelo and pomelo-based dishes and specialties such as pomelo wine, pomelo rolls... People gradually realized the value of developing special products and supported socialization policies, contributing to local economic growth. Since then, People's Committee of Bach Dang Commune strives to arouse tourism potential.

Party Resolution of Bach Dang Commune, tenure 2015-2020, set out tasks of continuing to develop and implement new rural construction plan; uphold and improve the quality of new rural construction criteria; implementation of new rural construction until 2020. Following the resolution, Bach Dang isle has been changing its face every day, gradually raising the quality of new rural construction. Bach Dang locals keep clinging to this land to develop agriculture and eco-tourism in the direction of green urban area.
