Immediately after being recognized as a provincial city in early 2020, Di An City is making a significant step forward in the development of trade and services. In 2019, the city's trade and service value increased by an average of 40.26% (accounting for 55.12%), industrial value increased by 10.48% (a proportion of 44.87%). Di An's economic structure has also shifted strongly towards increasing the proportion of service and trade to form a satellite city with the highlighted growth of key economic sectors, especially in banking and finance and logistics. Trade and service activities have prospered, basically to meet the shopping and consumption needs of the people in the area.

Ms. Bui Thi Phuong Hong, living at Thong Nhat Quarter, Di An Ward, said that Di An City was growing in synchronous, modern and civilized direction. In particular, the system of commercial centers, supermarkets, and convenience stores is convenient, diverse and widespread, creating favorable conditions for people to visit and shop easily, without having to go anywhere far as before.

It has been determined that the development of commerce and services associated with the process of urbanization should gradually shift the economic structure from industry - service - agriculture to service - industry - agriculture. Based on the consistent goal of building Di An into one of the high-quality trade-service centers of the region, in recent years, authorities at all levels in Di An city have made great efforts to achieve the Important results in the field of high-quality commerce and service associated with the development of industry and urban areas towards civilization and modernization.

Mr. Le Thanh Tai, Chairman of the People's Committee of Di An City, said that the city always takes advantage of the potentials and strengths of the locality, promoting internal resources, attracting external resources to create abundant resources for construction and trade and service development, with a focus on rich and diversified development of high quality industries and products such as finance- banking, electronics, insurance, transportation, education and health , post and telecommunications, logistics, etc. Besides, for the industry to continue growing steadily, Di An City always creates favorable conditions for businesses to innovate technology, improve productivity, product quality and competitiveness. As a result, the value of industrial production increased by an average of 10.68% a year, reaching the target set by the 11^th Resolution of the Municipal Party Congress.

To improve the quality

After becoming a city under a province, in order to create the first breakthrough and create momentum for sustainable development for the locality, Di An City is speeding up the progress of many large-scale projects and schemes. A number of ongoing projects, such as: Ho Chi Minh National University Urban Area (over 500 hectares), Eastern Binh Duong Commercial and Service Urban Area (126 hectares), roads linking National Highway 1K with Ho Chi Minh National University and Dong Hoa complex (5 hectares), My Phuoc - Tan Van extension road, east - west main road, North-South 3 Road, etc. All of the above projects, after being completed, will not only significantly change the appearance and landscape of Di An urban area, but also boost the socio-economic situation of Di An city to develop quickly and sustainably.

In the first 6 months of 2020, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the socio-economic development situation of Di An City also faced many difficulties. However, the city has been making efforts to focus on the implementation of two parallel tasks, which are to prevent and fight epidemics and to develop socio-economy. Accordingly, in the first 6 months of 2020, industrial production value is estimated at VND 50,480 billion, reaching 46.66% of the year plan (VND 108,194 billion), increased by 0.93% compared to the same period of 2019. Retaining a growth rate, a number of industries still maintained the production pace; raw materials for production of some industries began to be stabilized; businesses have found new purchase orders. Total retail sales of goods and services were estimated at VND 50,616 billion, equal to 37.54% of the year plan and increased by 4.52% over the same period of 2019.

With the achieved results, creating a new face of Di An urban area, and contributing to the successful completion of political tasks, creating a firm position and strength for Di An City to meet the criteria of urban civilization has been in place. Along with the development of high quality services is the development of socio-economic infrastructure, thereby contributing to improve the quality of life of the people. However, besides the achieved results, it must be acknowledged that high quality trade and services have many flourishes but not commensurate with the potential and strengths of the city.

Mr. Le Thanh Tai said that in order to motivate the development of commerce and services, the city is making efforts to implement the City's breakthrough programs for the period of 2016-2020 with vision to 2030 on urban development. In particular, attaching importance to developing high-quality commerce and services associated with industrial and urban development, improving the quality of human resources should be considered. In addition to works and projects that have been invested by the province, Di An City also continue to focus investment on technical and social infrastructure in the direction of modernity and synchronization. In particular, Di An City has set out orientations to change the function of industrial parks into urban areas, creating a premise for the development of high-quality commerce and service industry in the coming time.
