Investment in transport infrastructure in the Southeast Vietnam brings about national benefits

At the seminar on promoting transport infrastructure connection in the Southeast Region, organized by the Party Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in coordination with the Government Portal, Tuoi Tre Newspaper and Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Development Studies on November 22 in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, many experts asserted that in order to resolve the congestion within the transport infrastructure connection in the region, local authorities and ministries must change their thinking by considering the matter as an urgent task to boost national economic development.

Many experts evaluated that the Southeast Region is the leading economic region in the country in terms of GDP growth, but the development in this region is showing signs of slowing down compared to the other 3 economic regions. Economic experts of the Government have raised the issue of how the economic regions of the country would grow equally to ensure social security and resources. When resources are limited, which areas should be highly effective for investment? And, the Southeast Region is chosen for investments, especially, to the transport infrastructure system.

Many traffic experts believed that current focus on transport in the infrastructure planning is not synchronized among localities in the region. Traffic infrastructure in recent years that has, although, been changed possibly, cannot meet the fast development of the region and cannot keep pace with economic development and urbanization; and, the current system of traffic is becoming one of many significant reasons inhibiting the development of not only the region but the whole nation.
