In recent years, the campaign "All people unite in civilized urban construction" in TDM City has brought many important results. The Fatherland Front (VFF) and socio-political organizations worked closely with local authorities to develop a variety of models and ways to do it in a practical manner. The efforts of cadres and people contributed to the performance of the common goal of civilized and modern urban construction.

To volunteer for the city

In recent years, Hoa Phu ward (TDM City) has been a good place for many people to live and work in companies, factories in this area. Thousands of lodging rooms were built to meet the increasing demand for accommodation of workers. In order to ensure social security and order, environmental hygiene at lodging houses, contributing to the building of a cultural and civilized lifestyle, Hoa Phu ward VFF Committee developed lodging house owners’ club (hereafter referred as the club). The establishment of the club is one of the activities to carry out the construction of cultural lodging houses in the ward.

Nguyen Hoang Yen, Vice Chairwoman of VFF Committee of Hoa Phu ward, said that the club was initially set up in quarter 1 with 160 members. After the establishment, members of the club were assigned to directly communicate the Party’s guidelines, State’s laws to their residents, regulations on temporary residence, temporary absence registration... In addition, the club often encourages workers to preserve and protect security and order, directly fight and prevent crimes; propagates methods, tricks and causes of crimes so that workers are vigilant, take initiative in preventing, denouncing and assisting the authorities in fighting crimes in time.

"The ward has now 10 clubs with 457 members. Club activities are linked with other movements of mass organizations, become a voluntary movement in the prevention and fight against crime and social evils, bringing practical effects in the protection of security and order and building a healthy cultural lifestyle in the community", said Ms. Yen. In addition, the club also promotes good environmental protection. Workers living in lodging houses are aware of environmental protection; keep their rooms and ways clean, dispose of garbage at right places. Lodging house owners also purchased garbage cans for their own house. 100% residents have clean water source, sanitary latrines.

Voluntary environmental protection is also the common spirit of people in quarter 4, Phu Hoa ward. Le Thanh Van, Head of VFF activities’ board of quarter 4, said that self-managed teams encouraged each household to improve awareness of hygiene preservation at their own house. At the same time, lodging house owners also strictly carried out garbage collection and disposal at right places, so that environmental hygiene in the area was guaranteed. Nguyen Van Thai, a resident of Quarter 4, said that people in quarter 4 reminded each other to keep environmental hygiene to contribute to the building of clean, civilized streets.

To raise awareness of building a civilized lifestyle

Establishment of lodging house owners’ club in Hoa Phu ward or construction of streets without garbage in quarter 4 (Phu Hoa ward), and models and activities that have being carried out in TDM City contributed to the effective implementation of the campaign "All people unite in civilized urban construction". After 3 years, thanks to the direction of the city Party Committee as well as the support of local government, agencies, mass organizations, this campaign made good changes.

This campaign included five contents: joining hands for economic development, actively sustainable poverty reduction, improvement of living standards, encouraging legitimate entrepreneurship; To unite in building a cultural life, education and training, human resource development, and taking care of the people's health; build cultural families; upholding gratitude tradition, mutual affection; environmental protection, responding to climate change, building bright, green, clean, beautiful environment; abiding by laws and regulations, ensuring social order and security, democracy, actively participating in supervision and social feedback, contribute to building strong and transparent grassroots political system.

Nguyen Thi Hoang Tien, Vice Chairwoman of TDM City VFF Committee, said 3 years the launching of "All people unite in civilized urban construction", Party members, civil servants and people’s awareness of cultural lifestyle is heightened. Local patriotic movements developed well. For example, self-managed group for environmental protection, for traffic safety and urban order… were constantly promoted and appreciated by the people. The campaign "All people unite in civilized urban construction" has contributed effectively to the national target program on civilized urban construction and sustainable poverty reduction. The quality and number of families recognized as cultural families, cultural quarters are increasing, meeting the requirements of urban civilization... ", Ms. Tien said.

The implementation of the campaign "All people unite in civilized urban construction" associated with the project "Building cultural lifestyle, urban civilization" launched by Party Committee of TDM City brought about noticeable progress, especially in urban order, environmental hygiene protection, building bright, green, clean, beautiful environment. These results will undoubtedly be the driving force for TDM City to make better decisions in the coming time, contributing to the building of civilized city as desired by city cadres and people.
