Provincial Students' Union - A 10-year journey with many impressions

Ten years ago, on 8 Jan 2010, Vietnam Students' Union of Binh Duong province was officially established. To uphold the 70-year tradition of Vietnam Students' Union, during its formation and development process, Provincial Students' Union recorded many achievements and worthy results; more and more dynamic, brave and enthusiastic students appeared. They studied, trained virtues, did scientific research, and contributed youth to building the hometown and the country.

Construction of ideal

Trần Thị Diễm Trinh, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Youth Union, Chairwoman of Provincial Students' Union, said that over 10 years, Provincial Students' Union had actively developed its action programs and had given timely, close instructions to activities of its affiliates at schools. Provincial Students' Union applied well information technology into communication, information, and direction at the grassroots. Accordingly, Provincial Students' Union is one of the leading units in the country to deploy a network of collaborators of 200 core students through Zalo app and student management application to timely capture information, ideological and psychological development of students to have appropriate directions.

Since its establishment, gathering, uniting, taking care of students, and fostering ideals and membership development were actively implemented by Provincial Students' Union through youth programs and projects, such as: Project on raising legal awareness for Binh Duong youth, Project of Office for Binh Duong youth development support and consultancy, programs for building Students' Unions; organized meetings and dialogues between union members, students with local leadership, fine art activities, academic contests, communication and education, moral and revolutionary ideal orientation...

The most prominent thing of student movements in the province is the revolutionary ideal fostering for students through studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, with many forms of communication, ways and methods, creative and outstanding solutions throughout the country, such as: Online contest to learn about Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle; collection and writing contest about the hearts of international friends towards President Ho Chi Minh; the program "Festival of Students following Uncle Ho" was held simultaneously from grassroots to provincial level; training program on official's skills in association with "Journey of students with historical and cultural monuments"... Besides, Provincial Students' Union also embarked on journeys to historic sites, "Journey follow the footsteps of heroes" and response activities to national major holidays, especially a peak week of "Showing gratitude - Drink water and remember the source" on occasion of 27 July every year.

Over a 10-year period, communication activities on borders, sovereignty over national and island sovereignty continued to be effectively implemented by Provincial Students' Union, for example, Binh Duong Students' Journey to national sea and islands held annually in Phu Quy Island district (Binh Thuan province), Tho Chu island (Kien Giang province), Cu Lao Xanh island (Binh Dinh province)... contributed to bring meaningful constructions and works of Binh Duong students to officials, soldiers, people who are living, working on the islands, arousing the patriotism in each young participants.

To support scientific research

Because learning and research is the most important task of students, during 10 years, the academic and scientific research activities were effectively implemented by Provincial Students' Union at its affiliates, creating a good environment for students to study and adapt to new training methods. For instance, the annual "Creative and entrepreneurial students' festival" and the conference to guide university, college and scientific research methods; cooperated with Viet Duc University to host Robocon VGU contest, attracting nearly 200 students from schools inside and outside the province.

In addition, to encourage student learning spirit, over academic years from 2015 - 2019, Provincial Students' Union mobilized and awarded 678 scholarships to students with a total value of more than VND2.5 billion; introduced 17,000 jobs to students, creating jobs for many students, especially students having difficult circumstances after graduation.

Always be pioneer and volunteer

Voluntary activities are also a feature of the union and students of Binh Duong, with programs such as "Exam season assistance", "Green summer", "Winter Volunteers", and "Voluntary Spring" were carried out in a variety and diverse levels by all-level Students' Union in the province, bringing meaningful activities and works to people inside and outside the province. Accordingly, during 10 years, nearly 8,000 volunteers participated in 130 volunteer squads "To assist exam season" to help nearly 100,000 contestants and their families with total support of nearly VND 1.5 billion. The "Giving help to go to school" program supported 18,270 new students with a total expense of over VND 3 billion. Nearly 50,000 turns of students participated in the "Green Summer" campaign with a total work value of nearly VND 10 billion. Nearly 5,000 students with a total resource of about VND 1 billion participated in the "Winter Volunteer" and "Spring Volunteer".

Provincial Students' Union also established a team of "Binh Duong students join hands to build a dynamic, friendly public administration center", which attracted over 70 students annually assisting nearly 100,000 people and businesses in completing administrative procedures, solving a number of administrative procedures at Provincial Administration Center. Provincial Students' Union also collaborated with Department of Foreign Affairs to build a squad of volunteers for the 11th WTA Asia Meeting, a squad for Horasis Asia Meeting in Binh Duong. After the events, Students' Union established a Volunteers' Club for International Events in Binh Duong province to create a good environment for students to exchange and learn from experience.

In parallel, the activities to connect the friendship between students, Binh Duong youth and students and young people from other countries were carried out, such as: Cultural exchange program "Sharing the Mekong River", the annual students cultural exchange program in Daejeon City (South Korea). These international exchange activities created good conditions and opportunities for students in the province to meet and exchange with international friends.

From the gained results from activities and movements, Provincial Students' Union was honored to be one of the leading units in the emulation movement of Vietnam Students' Union. This is also the motivation, belief, determination for Binh Duong students to continue consolidating an image of confident, dynamic and integrated students. Then students strive to make many new achievements, contributing to building Binh Duong hometown to be more and more beautiful and civilized.
