Update: 30-04-2021 | 13:13:41

Along with the task of economic development, the care for socially privileged families, in recent years, has always been focused in Tan Uyen town. In addition to funding sources at all levels, the socialization of policy family care has been effective. In the locality, no poor households under the policy category are listed. Instead, rich and well-income households are at place as the spiritual life of the households has been improved day by day.

Tan Uyen town has always been for the care of socially privileged families

Economic development facilitated

In the last days of April, we followed the staff of Tan Uyen town to visit the family of Nguyen Van Sang in Quarter 3 of Uyen Hung ward. A spacious house on the front of a wide and fully equipped street appeared before our eyes. At the same time, Sang just parked his shiny white car in front of the house. “I have just bought a car, only a few hundred million dollars, as the mean of transportation. Now, life is more developed than before, it is necessary to enhance spiritual life,” Sang said with a smile when greeting everyone.

In 1970, when he was just 16 years old, the resistance in the war zone D was very fierce, Sang followed his parents and brothers into the war zone to participate in the fight; the other two children had been sent to relatives. Despite his young age, he enthusiastically took a gun directly to the battlefield. Just a short time, his parents and first brother were killed in the battlefield. He continued to stick to the battlefield with his brothers and uncles in the war zones until the day the nation was liberated.

As peace was restored, the brave young man Nguyen Van Sang tried his best to study and got a university degree in postal service and then returned to work in many places in the province.  Sang confided: “I am just a salary-man. I have to support my wife and 3 children in school, so I only had enough to live each day. Having a stable economic status as today is thanks to the support and assistance from the authorities at all levels. In particular, from the policy loans for families with preferential interest rates, my family built rooms for rent and each year we have borrowed a little more. Just follow the rolling model like that, now the family has a few dozen rooms for rent and has a stable source of income.”

When his economic life got better, he cared about and supported families and beneficiaries of difficult situations. “Not many, those are just gifts, sometimes just a few million to support home repair, mainly from the heart. The main thing is that we must remember the principle of gratitude," Sang said.

Also demonstrating well the principle of gratitude, family of Nguyen Van Nhan in Quarter 7 of Uyen Hung ward is another example of socially privileged family. Previously, Nhan's family economy was not well-off, but with local loans, he bravely invested in raising chickens. At first, he worked only on a small scale and gradually accumulated over the past 5 years. His family's husbandry model has been gradually expanded, bringing higher income. This approach is being shared by his family to local people, especially children of social beneficiaries and people with meritorious services having no stable jobs.

He not only provided guidance on breeding techniques but also financed the purchase of feed for livestock and poultry for a number of small businesses. “There are many ways in the socialization of family care. If the government organizes donations, gifts, and visits to policy families, we will do it our own way as long as we join hands and contribute to help families and children stabilize their income in all aspects,” said Nhan.

Offered the real thoughts and ways of actions, socially privileged families settle their lives down in Tan Uyen town and help others.

House construction and the spiritual life

Identifying the work of taking care of the socially privileged family and people with meritorious services to the revolution as an important task, the Party committees and authorities at all levels of Tan Uyen town have always focused closely on directing and getting specific ways to fully implementing the Party's and State's regimes and policies towards war invalids, sick soldiers and socially privileged families. Currently, Tan Uyen town has 4,674 policy beneficiaries, of which, 289 mothers have been conferred by the State and awarded the title of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers (currently 6 alive).

Nguyen Ngoc Anh Thy, Deputy Head of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Tan Uyen town, said that over the past years, Tan Uyen town has done a good job of giving gratitude to socially privileged families and people with contributions to the revolution. Policies are implemented in a complete and timely manner to the right beneficiaries. The town has organized propaganda activities to commemorate the day of war invalids and martyrs; to mobilize agencies, departments, unions, and individuals in the area to participate in supporting them; to organize visits and give gifts to policy families and people with meritorious services to the revolution. “Thanks to the attention of the Party and State, especially the Party Committee and authorities from town to grassroots level, policy families and people with meritorious services in the area feel warm and compassionate for having more production and business conditions to improve their family economic life,” said Thy.

For each Tet occasion, Tan Uyen town has organized donation of thousands of gifts to beneficiaries by a total budget of billions of VND, including mobilization sources of socialization from agencies, businesses, as well as localities to take care of the material and spiritual life of policy families and beneficiaries through economic investigation, insurance card donation, new building and repair of gratitude houses as regularly maintained by the town.

Nguyen Ngoc Anh Thy added that in taking care of policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services, socialization work has always been focused by the locality. Vocational training, job hunting or sending children to learn jobs in livestock and farming establishments to find good models for their children to apply and develop the local economy.
