Update: 16-10-2019 | 15:54:49

On 11 Oct, Dang Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, chaired the summarizing conference and seminar on health insurance for students in school year 2018-2019 and tasks for school year 2019-2020.

By 31 May 2019, at the end of school year 2018-2019, the province had 293 schools at all levels (excluding kindergartens and preschools) with nearly 350,000 children having health insurance, reaching 96.89% total student, and more than 11,000 children that had not yet participate in health insurance. The number of insured students increased by 1.25% equivalent to nearly 38,000 children compared to the previous school year, In particular, the primary and insured high-school student rate reached 99%; junior secondary school reached 98%. The lowest rate was of universities, colleges, professional and vocational training schools, which only accounted for 82% (of which the percentage of insured students of schools managed by Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs reached 93%, and 5 universities under the management of Ministry of Education and Training had 74.1% of insured students).

In order for the number of insured students to reach 100%, in school year 2019-2020, Provincial People's Committee decided to support an additional 30% of health insurance premium based on the 20% balance of medical examination and treatment fund for health insurance in 2017. Thus, the total support for students in this new school year is 60%, students only contribute 40%.

Mr. Hung suggested that, in the coming time, schools needed to achieve the target of 100% students to have health insurance. Departments, branches, and localities needed to increase propagation on health insurance to all people, especially students' parents. Particularly, Social Insurance needed to better promote the benefits of health insurance to encourage people to participate in health insurance.
