Update: 12-09-2018 | 11:15:14

Biodiversity is the concept of the richness of living organisms in the earth, from small organisms to the kinds of plants and ecosystems in which they are present. In the process of development, Binh Duong is always concerned about the conservation of biodiversity.

To store rare gene sources

In 2010, Phu An Bamboo Village is one of 25 projects that have passed the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) selection round from over 300 initial projects around the world. Phu An Bamboo Village was honored at this awards ceremony in recognition of its efforts in preserving biodiversity and contributing to poverty reduction. Human activities are increasingly undermining the ability of the earth to sustain life, while increasing population and consumption demand more and more natural resources. . As the environment is increasingly changing, the issue of the conservation of biodiversity is more urgent than ever.

Phu An Bamboo Village is receiving great attention from Binh Duong, because it is preserving rare gene sources of the most diverse bamboo species in the world. Phu An Bamboo Village was introduced by many international scientific journals and studied by many scientists. This is why the province is more interested in this unique bamboo reserve.

To restore the specialty orchards

In the period 2015-2020, Binh Duong continues to review and plan the system of special-use forests and landscape protection areas; At the same time, a conservation system is in place, including a unified classification system for terrestrial and wetland protected areas. In addition, the province develops local biodiversity action plans for each of the key areas; Support localities that have objects to be protected. Important projects and models are being implemented by the province such as the biodiversity corridor conservation project along the Dong Nai river and Sai Gon river; community based forest management and protection model; Solutions for landscape ecosystem restoration for tourist resorts ...

According to the Biodiversity Action Plan up to 2015 and orientation to 2020, Binh Duong is implementing 10 priority projects with a budget of nearly VND20 billion. These include protection and restoration projects in Dau Tieng district, production forests, plantation forests in Phu Giao district and Bac Tan Uyen district. In addition, the province continues to implement projects and projects in the action plans for biodiversity, such as the scheme to restore and protect the ecology of the orchard of Lai Thieu, Pomelo Village Project. Bach Dang...

Currently, these projects are implemented by Binh Duong with local funding and socialization. In this issue, the project to develop wildlife tourism in Mount Cau (Dau Tieng) with investment capital of nearly 1,000 billion, will be a place to keep and live the rare species of animals in the world.

For the orchard of Lai Thieu - the land is famous for many kinds of fruit trees such as mangosteen, durian, strawberry, bonsai ... area of fruit trees are gradually reduced by the process of urbanization The area is fast and the impact of tides. Thanks to the attention and drastic direction of leaders at all levels, the garden is on the recovery momentum; The wrong season continues to bring joy to the farmers here.

Experts said that biodiversity not only gives people resources for consumption, raw materials for industrial production, agriculture, huge economic value but also value for money. aesthetic and spiritual. Conservation of biodiversity, therefore, is not the responsibility of managers and scientists, but must be shared by the whole community.
