As of noon on June 22, in the fourth outbreak alone, Binh Duong recorded a total of 141 positive cases of COVID-19 infection in the community. The outbreak in Tan Phuoc Khanh ward (Tan Uyen town) ranked first in the number of infection cases (118 cases). According to the health authority, this outbreak has infiltrated factories interspersed with residential areas and spread to workers' lodging houses. Currently, this locality is actively implementing measures to quickly stabilize the situation.

Outbreak at Tan Phuoc Khanh ward caused 4 contagious chains at companies

Up to now, since the discovery of a positive case here, there has been a total of 118 cases related to the outbreak in Tan Phuoc Khanh ward (Tan Uyen town). This outbreak has caused 4 contagious chains at companies. Specifically, Vietnam House Wares Company, Binh Phuoc B quarter, Binh Chuan ward, Thuan An city had 69 cases; Waste treatment branch of Binh Duong Water - Environment Joint Stock Company 15 cases; Hien Hoa Anh Ceramic Company, Vinh An quarter, Tan Vinh Hiep ward, Tan Uyen town had 21 cases, and Vision Company, Thai Hoa ward, Tan Uyen Town had 2 cases. These companies have a large number of workers residing in many different lodging houses.

In particular, the disease has spread to Trung Kien lodging house, Binh Phuoc B quarter, Binh Chuan ward, Thuan An city; and Lam Van Nho lodging house, Vinh An hamlet, Tan Vinh Hiep ward, Tan Uyen town. Currently, the disease continues to spread to two other companies, Duc Loi 2 Wood Company, next to Vietnam House Wares Company and KJ Vina - TA Company. In addition to this cluster, Binh Duong also discovered a new Covid-19-related point in Binh Nham ward (Thuan An city), and 2 cases were long-distance drivers in Bau Bang district. Assessing the epidemic situation in this area, the health authority informed that the current outbreak in Tan Phuoc Khanh ward (Tan Uyen town) and the chain at House Wares Company had Covid-19 variants from India and has a very fast spreading rate. The disease has infiltrated into some companies, spread to workers' lodging houses, and is likely to surge in the near future. The current number of infection cases in the province has approached level 4, nearly 100 cases, thus it is necessary to raise epidemic alert to the highest level to promptly prevent and control the disease.

Currently, the health sector is gathering resources to cut off infection sources at House Wares Company and Binh Duong Waste Treatment Branch. The health authority also recommend buying Covid-19 vaccines through some channels, specifically Donacoop Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company. Senior Lieutenant Colonel Đinh Trọng Cơ, Deputy Commander of Provincial Military Command, said that Provincial Military Command is ready to expand the concentrated isolation areas to ensure that they are fully equipped with vehicles that can receive them immediately. The Provincial Military Command is also preparing a backup force for urgent situations.

Ministry of Health aids Binh Duong to combat the pandemic

According to Ministry of Health, within one week (from June 14 to June 20), the number of Covid-19 cases in Binh Duong increased 76 cases compared to the previous week. Binh Duong is currently providing concentrated medical isolation for 2,600 cases, and  6,000 related cases are in medical isolation at their home. Currently, the province is actively implementing measures to quickly stabilize the situation. Ministry of Health sent a professional team to support and train Binh Duong province on organizing and implementing concentrated medical isolation.

At the training session, the team instructed how to set up a isolation area, including: Rooms for quarantined people to ensure the distance requirements, working rooms of health department, operating house, temporary isolation rooms, reception area for quarantined people etc. to ensure that there is no cross-infection. Medical staff in isolation areas must be instructed to wear protective clothing in accordance with regulations, to supervise the implementation of disease prevention control measures. The rules in isolation area need to be thoroughly perceived by quarantined people, medical staff and the whole staff.

Speaking at a meeting with provincial health branch, Dương Chí Nam, Deputy Director of Health Environmental Management Department, team leader of the isolation and treatment of the medical environment under Standing Board of Special Support for Covid-19 Prevention Control (Ministry of Health), said that Binh Duong needed to determine the testing capacity, and human resources to take samples, which is a particularly important step, including testing in high-risk areas. Along with the sampling capacity, Binh Duong also needs to ensure the capacity in isolation areas, ensure adequate treatment area for patients infected with Covid-19 when the number of cases increases, and strengthen the prevention and control of disease entering the hospital.
