China is willing to cooperate with Laos to further implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and the two countries, while continuously consolidating the traditional friendship and increasing high-level exchanges, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has said.
He made the statement while meeting on April 25 with General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President Bounnhang Vorachit who is in Beijing to attend the second Belt and Road Forum.
Li said China is ready to align the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with Laos’s development strategy and make new progress on major projects such as the China-Laos Economic Corridor and the China-Laos Railway.
For his part, Bounnhang said Laos attaches importance to and actively participates in the BRI and is pleased to see the steady progress of major projects such as the Laos-China Railway.
He thanked China for its strong support for Lao economic and social development, noting that the two sides should work together to build a community with a shared future and take the bilateral relations to a new level.
