12th “Red Sunday” blood donation drive absorbs 1,000 participants

Early May 15, the Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper in collaboration with provincial People’s Committee, Chanh Nghia Quoc Cuong Company kicked off the 12th “Red Sunday”, a blood donation drive in Chanh Nghia residential area in TDM city’s Chanh Nghia ward, absorbing 1,000 local officials, soldiers, Youth Union officials and workers.

The event was attended by Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Vo Van Minh, Chairman of provincial People’s Council and Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.

The “Red Sunday” program is one of community activities co-held by the Tien Phong newspaper, the National Steering Committee on Traffic Safety and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusions. So far, the program has taken place in 41 provinces and cities with tens of thousands of units of blood given.

This is the first year the program has been organized in the province. Speaking at the event, Mr.Hung said that blood donation programs of the country and the province this year have been affected by Covid-19 pandemic. But, the province has always taken lead in blood donation in recent years. The province will further mobilize people to give blood and this task is expected to reach high results in the next months.
