Awaking tourism potential

In the 2015-2020 period, the province’s sector of tourism, culture and sports has focused on tourism development under the attention and instruction of provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee.

Tourism products

Over the past time, the province paid more attention to fostering tourism products, including ecotourism, waterway tourism, traditional craft village tourism, cultural-historical tourism, meeting incentive conference event (MICE) touirsm...The province’s special dishes like My Lien “banh beo”, chicken salad with mangosteen, chicken grilled with durian, Lai Thieu meat roll…were also a tourist attraction. In addition, the province was well-known with delicious fruits like mansogsteens, “to nu’ jackfruits…in Lai Thieu; pomelos in Bach Dang, oranges and pomelos in Hieu Liem…

Nguyen Thanh Phong, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that with the local advantages plus investment, the province’s tourism sector reached a considerable progress over the past time. The province also saw an increase in the number of tourists between 2015 and 2019. Particularly, the province welcomed 4.2 million tourists in 2015 and 5.1million tourism in 2019. Among them, there were 200,000 international arrivals in 2015 and 367,000 international arrivals in 2019. The sector’s total revenue was more than VND1.12trillion in 2015 and VND1.44trillion in 2019. The sector’s results over the past time significantly contributed to the local common development.

Tourism promoted

The province’s tourism sector has implemented provincial People’s Committee’s Plan No.5822/KH-UBND dated December 21, 2017 on the realization of the Politburo’s Resolution No.08-NQ/TW dated January 16, 2017 on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector. Under the plan, the province will put focus on fostering 8 groups of tourism products, comprising of eco-tourism, traditional craft village tourism, cultural-historical tourism, MICE tourism…

Possible speaking, the province’s preferential policies in investment attraction together with administrative reform have created favorable conditions for investors at home and abroad to bravely make investment in the local tourism. As of late 2019, some tourism sites in the province worked very effectively, meeting tourists ‘demand for entertainment.

In addition to tourism sites with domestic investment like Dai Nam tourist complex, Phuong Nam resort, Din Ky green tourist site, An Lam Saigon River, Saigon Park Resort, Thuy Chau tourist site…, the province is now home to some wholly foreign-invested tourism projects like the Mekong Golf & Villas eco-tourism site.

The province has also implemented a number of projects to serve the local tourism development. They include the Ba Lua port project; the project of forest afforestation and protection in association with tourism complex development, in which there is a semi-safari park in Cau Mountain-Dau Tieng protective forest and Tha la peninsula invested by Xuan Cau Co.Ltd. The large-scale tourism site in combination with Thai Son pagoda and Dau Tieng reservoir will become an attractive destination for tourists at home and abroad in the coming time.

For better development, the province’s tourism sector will also research and develop tourism products with speciality and high competitiveness, comprising of tours to industrial parks, traditional craft villages, Phu An bamboo village… Mr.Phong said that the sector has mobilized all resources to basically become a key economic sector of the province till 2025, with the target of welcoming 5,250 tourists and total revenue of VND2.09trillion…
