Binh Duong has enough resources to become a smart city

That is the judgment of Le Xuan Dinh, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology during his recent visit to Binh Duong. Mr. Dinh said that with the ceaseless efforts by the local political system, businesses and people, Binh Duong has gathered enough resources to soon develop into a smart and modern city.

Many breakthrough policies

After the great success from the model of building and developing industrial parks and compounds, Binh Duong has soon became an attractive destination for many domestic and foreign investors. The province has attached special importance to setting up preferential policies with breakthrough, promoting the local socio-economic development. Particularly, the policy on supporting investors to remove problems on administrative procedures has helped them feel secure in doing business is a bright spot of the province.

Along with preferential policies for businesses, the province  has also focused on promoting the movement of creative start-up with many drastic action programs, including propagandizing, mobilizing people, especially youngsters to actively participate in competitions on research, application and development of science - technology and engineering, namely “Binh Duong Startup Innovation”, “Creativity for teenagers and children”; “Scientific and technical innovation”…

Speaking at the recent integrated online conference on green technology connection, Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee said that along with developing the Binh Duong smart city project, the province has bent on finding partners for cooperation in fostering economic groups with science and technology application towards green and sustainable growth. Accordingly, Binh Duong will always create conditions and be ready to support scientists, investors and enterprises to research, apply experimental science and technology in association with socio-economic development, considering this as the way for the local development in the future.

Nguyen Viet Long, Acting Director of provincial Department of Science and Technology (DoST) said that as an advisory body for provincial leaders on the cause of the local science-technology development in association with socio-economic development, the Department  will actively propagandize and mobilize businesses and people to participate in the movement of innovation in production, business and daily life. Especially, the province will give priority to policies promoting the application of science and technology in enterprises, thereby spreading the movement of smart-modern production and business to keep up with the world's development trend.

Entering digital era

With the correct judgment on the world's development trend, Binh Duong has chosen science-technology development in association with building a smart and modern city in recent years. The province has bravely invested in construction and development of big projects such as the World Trade Center Binh Duong New, the Science-Technology Industrial Park...while paying more attention to digital transformation, smart production and creating conditions for domestic enterprises to step by step access advanced technologies and participate in the global value chain. In particular, the province’s policy on building and developing an innovative startup ecosystem, enhancing the linkage  among the State, schools, and businesses will be strategic orientations.

With a consistent orientation on early formation and development of the Binh Duong smart and modern city, the province has actively built and developed e-government. The province has directed sectors and localities to soon deploy, build and put applications and utilities of science and technology in public services and administrative procedure activities into operation at enterprises and people’ needs. Up to now, most departments and localities have proficiently applied in bringing administrative procedures and public services online, creating favorable conditions for businesses and people.

On the threshold of the digital age, the province has also attached special importance to  finding, training and fostering talents in the field of science and technology, especially in the field of digitalization and green technology applications in association with sustainable development. Visiting the scientific and technical creative space at provincial Community Initiatives and Creative Startup Support Center (BIIC), you can be more confident in the province's efforts and determination. Despite being during the epidemic period, BIIC has still attracted a large number of young people who are passionate about creativity to participate in research and creativity. This shows that Binh Duong has gathered resources and is ready to step into the cause of modern and smart urban construction.
