Efficiency from a movement

The movement of “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims” has been launched widely and deeply by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society among people from all strata nationwide in general and in Binh Duong in particular.

Gifts given for needy people in the province under the movement

Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of provincial Red Cross Society assessed that the movement has absorbed enthusiastic response of people from all strata. For the movement effectively implemented, provincial Red Cross Society and its branches have attached special importance to diversifying a task of mobilizing resources by many other forms.

Thanks to mobilization work well realized, the movement has absorbed the participation of many resources in the society. Thanh Phuong Real Estate Joint Stock Company in Di An town’s Dong Hoa ward is one of businesses making great contributions to the movement. Over the past two years, the company supported VND4billion for the movement; actively accompanied provincial Red Cross Society in social charity activities such as visiting, offering gifts to disadvantaged people during the last Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.

Nguyen Thanh Phuong, CEO of the company said: “…We want to partially share their profit in production and business with needy people, helping them soon rise up in life…”.

District, town, city-level Red Cross Society branches have also taken effective measures in mobilizing resources for the movement. For example, Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society branch last year organized a charity jogging with VND245million raised for the movement. In 2018, the fund collected from the jogging is VND210million.

Possibly seeing, after 10 years of implementation from 2009 to 2018, the movement has received enthusiastic response from donors, enterprises, religious organizations, sectors and mass organizations in the province. Under the movement during the period, provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels have donated 388,462 gifts to disadvantaged people; awarded 1,019 scholarships to poor pupils, students; provided free medical check-up and treatment for 650 poor patients; built 55 “red cross” houses and offered 13 mother cows to needy people. In 2018 alone, they mobilized organizations and individuals to donate 61,778 gifts and 4 “red cross” houses worth more than VND21.78billion to disadvantaged people…
