Local FFC upholds responsibility for community, strengthening great national unity bloc

Provincial Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and their member organizations have actively taken care of disadvantaged people. Their effective models have helped thousands of poor households under the province’s poverty line to rise up out of poverty.

Let no one leave behind

Under the model of “Connecting love”, the Fatherland Front Committee (FFC) of My Phuoc ward in Ben Cat town has offered help to the local disadvantaged people. Duong Van Muoi is one of the targeted people enjoying regular allowances from the model. Not only the FFC of My Phuoc ward, the FFCs of other localities have also developed many practical models for needy people, helping them rise up in life.

Nguyen Thi Bich Van, Vice-Chairwoman of Phu Giao district’s FFC said that thanks to propaganda work well implemented, the district’s FFCs at all levels have mobilized disadvantaged people to take part in activities organized by mass organizations in order to easily get access to support programs. The local poor people have received good care from mass organizations through forms, namely “Study, talented encouragement fund”, “Loan-rotating fund”, “Charity rice jar”…In the period of 2014-2019, the district had 742 households escape poverty from the above models and programs.

Whilst, according to Phan Trung Toan, Head of provincial FFC Movement said that since 2014, provincial Fund for the Poor and its branches have received approximately VND38.6billion from organizations, enterprises and people from all strata. The fund was used to offer help to disadvantaged people, including building, upgrading “great unity” houses for the poor; providing free medical check-up for them; visiting and presenting Tet gifts to the poor, the disabled, orphans, Agent Orange victims, needy workers living away from home; funded heart surgery for poor children…Provincial FFCs at all levels also coordinated with enterprises, donors to implement social welfare programs with a total expense of nearly VND110million.

Joining hands for the poor

Over the past time, provincial FFCs at all levels and their member organizations excelled at mobilizing members, Youth Union members, enterprises and people to respond to support campaigns on poverty reduction via movements, campaigns, namely “the Day for the Poor”, “All people consolidate to build civilized urban and new-style rural areas”…

After 19 years of development, provincial Fund for the Poor and its branches have mobilized resources to support the poor via many practical forms. From the fund, the province has so far built and upgraded thousands of “great unity” houses worth tens of billion of dong, becoming the country’s top localities in eradicating thatched cottages for poor households. Also upon the fund, the province has given support on loans, nurslings and breeding animals for poor households; offered help to poor pupils and provided poor households with regular allowances, helping them escape poverty sustainably.

Provincial FFCs at all levels and their member organizations have also regularly got involved in “paying debt of gratitude”, charity activities. Over the past five years, they received nearly VND40.6billion from organizations, units and individuals, thereby organizing delegations to give relief aid of nearly VND26.8billion for localities hit by flood and natural disasters.

Mr.Toan added that through the above contents, provincial FFCs at all levels have implemented many effective models, including the campaign of “Day for the Poor”. Thanks to the integral efforts by provincial FFCs and their member organizations, many poor households rose up out of poverty. As of late 2018, the whole province had 4,707 poor households under the province’s multidimensional approach to poverty, or 1.62% of total. In the period of 2016-2018, provincial FFCs at all levels mobilized enterprises and donors to raise more than VND35billion for the Fund for the Poor; built and upgraded 237 “great unity” houses with a total expense of approximately VND11.7billion.
