Outstanding collectives, individuals in tourism sector honored

Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on July 9, held a ceremony to mark the 60th founding anniversary of the Vietnamese Tourism Sector (July 9, 1960-July 9, 2020), in attendance of Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Council.

At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the history  and development of the Vietnamese tourism sector as well as the local tourism sector. Over the past years, the local tourism sector made efforts in development. Along with fostering special tourism products, the sector bent on the local tourism promotion activities.

The whole province is now home to 27 travel units, 743 hotels and motels with more than 12,700 rooms together with development of a system of restaurants and eateries at locals and tourists ‘demand for eating and drinking. In 2019 alone, the province welcomed more than 5.1 million tourists with total revenue of VND1.44trillion. It is known that the province has recently focused on developing tourism into a spearheading sector. Accordingly, the sector has carried out many cooperation programs while advising provincial People’s Committee on issuing projects, plans on the local tourism development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr.Oanh acknowledged achievements done by the local tourism sector over the past time. She wanted that all staff of the local culture, sports and tourism sector will further uphold the tradition, heighten their sense of responsibility, initiative, creation and improve quality,  efficiency in work, contributing to promoting the local tourism sector.

On this occasion, provincial People’s Committee awarded the certificates of merit to 21 collectives and 7 individuals with contributions to the local tourism sector for the 2015-2020 period.
