“Prevention of plastic waste” movement to be launched in mid November

The province will organize a ceremony in response to a movement of “Prevention of plastic waste” in mid November, according to provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DoNRE).

The movement is launched by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to further realize activities in response to the World Environment Day 2018, call for the community to change the habit of using plastic bags, contributing to minimizing environmental pollution, protecting people’s health and ecosystem.

According to statistics, the whole province has around 1,600 tons of urban waste a day, including around 200 tons of plastic waste…To limit the use of plastic bags and products, a program named “Journey minimizes plastic waste” is expected to be organized at 3 primary schools in Thuan An town, aiming to raise pupils’ awareness of the harmfulness of plastic and the benefit of waste classification at source. Besides, provincial DoNRE will work with sectors, departments and the People’s Committees of districts, towns and TDM city to set up a plan on the realization of the “Prevention of plastic waste” movement.
