Province obtains comprehensive socio-economic growth

Early December 2, Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly delegation chaired the 7th open session of the10th provincial Party Committee. Attending the session were Pham Van Canh, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Council; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Nguyen Huu Tu, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee and many other leaders.

GRDP up 8.5%

At the session, Mr.Liem said that the province’s socio-economic situation in 2016 continued positively changing with comprehensive results in all aspects.

Particularly, the province’s GRDP growth rate reached 8.5%. The GRDP per capita of locals was VND108.6million. The province’s economic structure was shifted with 63% in industrial production, 23.5% in services and 4.3% in agricultural production…The province’s industrial field gained positive changes with the index of industrial production (IIP) up 10.1%. The whole province is now home to 28 industrial parks (IPs) of 10,560 hectares with the land tenancy rate of 70% and 10 industrial compounds (ICs) with the land tenancy rate of 65%. In 2016, investors of province-based IPs spent more than VND300million on technical infrastructure construction. The IPs also reached nearly 346 hectares of land for lease and absorbed more than US$1.73billion in FDI capital. Enterprises at the IPs secured US$11.8billion in export value and US$20billion in total revenue.

The province’s retail sales of commodities and services obtained more than VND143.31trillion, up 21%. The province’s consumer price index (CPI) over the past 10 months grew by 2.4%. The province’s export turnover was estimated at US$24.3billion, up 16.4% while import value was US$20.5billion, up 16.2%.

The province’s agricultural production faced difficulties because of bad weather. But, the province’s agro-forestry-fishery production value still gained a growth of 4.1%. So far, there have been 32 communes and Dau Tieng district meeting criteria of the new-style rural construction program. It is expected that additional 10 communes and Tan Uyen town will be recognized as new-style rural areas by the end of the year.

Absorbing nearly US$1.9billion in FDI capital

Also according to Mr.Liem, there was a strong increase in the number of investment projects and in the amount of registered capital. The province also focused on taking solutions to improve the investment climate, promoting production-business and supporting enterprises; regularly organized dialogues with enterprises and industries’ associations to remove their difficulties in production and business…

The province’s total capital for social development achieved a growth of 6.8%. As of November 15, the province also absorbed more than VND30.17 trillion in domestic capital. So far, there have been 25,170 domestic projects with total registered capital of more than VND187trillion. The province also absorbed more than US$1.89billion in FDI capital. The figure has brought the total amount of FDI capital flowing into the province till now to US$25.6billion from 2,818 projects.

Regarding basic construction, the province, as of December 31, disbursed more than VND5.7trillion for this field. The rate of the province’s urbanization reached 77.9%. The province also basically fulfilled criteria of a first-class city. The province’s total State budget collection was estimated at VND40trillion.

Moreover, the province paid more attention to ensuring social welfare and took fruits in this field. The province mobilized many resources to take care of social policy beneficiaries and realize solutions on sustainable poverty reduction. The number of poor and near-poor households with multi-dimensional approach accounted for 1.32% and 0.97% of total, respectively.

The province also generated new jobs for 45,500 laborers; strengthened public healthcare; well ensured food safety and hygiene; improved the quality of education-training; promoted foreign relations; well maintained social order and political security; basically curbed traffic accidents; effectively implemented the fight against crime…

Stable growth to be ensured

For 2017’s main targets, the province will assure sustainable and stable growth; beef up the shift of economic structure towards the growth of services, continue perfecting socio-economic infrastructure and promoting urban-service development in order to create the premise for it to become a first-class city by 2020; ensure social welfare, enhancing the spiritual and material lives of locals; further improve the local investment climate to be able to lure more investors; strengthen national defence-security, political stability, social order and safety; improve the effectiveness of foreign relations, especially in economic development.

Concluding the session, Mr.Nam spoke highly of the province’s achievements in 2016 that were very great, but there were still certain shortcomings for change. In 2017, provincial Party Committee needs to have higher political determination in order to ensure the completion of the year’s targets and tasks. This will be the premise for the province to fulfill the Resolution of the 10th provincial Party Congress….

Here are some specific targets on the local socio-economic development in 2017: GRDP growth rate at 8.3%; IPP at 8.8%; the average GRDP per capita at VND115.4million; total State budget collection at VND46trillion; FDI attraction at more than VND1.4billion; the rate of poor households with multi-dimensional approach at below 1%.
