Setting up plan on Covid-19 vaccination, mobilizing resources for Covid-19 vaccine purchase

Nguyen Loc Ha, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee made the statement at a meeting with provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control on the morning of April 14.

According to the local healthcare sector, Binh Duong has about 1.9 million people aged over 18 who are subjects for Covid-19 vaccination. With the goal of community immunity, the province needs at least 80 - 90% of the population to be vaccinated. After excluding the rate of people disagreeing with the injection and those with contraindication to the injection, the number of people needing the injection is about 1.4million-1.5 million people, corresponding to about 3million to 3.3 million doses of the vaccine. Based on the Government's Resolution 21 / NQ-CP, the province must pay the full cost for the purchase of Covid-19 vaccine in accordance with the quantity registered with the Ministry of Health and make a partial advance payment as agreed with manufacturers.

However, during the implementation process, the province can adjust subjects for Covid-19 vaccination at demand and apply socialization to some subjects. For the groups not belonging to the Government’s Resolution 21 / NQ-CP, the cost for Covid-19 vaccine purchase depends on the local financial balance, mobilization of social resources and self-payment of people.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Ha emphasized: “Under the direction of the Ministry of Health, the province’s healthcare sector needs to quickly set up a plan for Covid-19 vaccination in accordance with the Government’s Resolution 21 / NQ-CP; map out a plan on socialization for resources and funds for Covid-19 vaccine purchase so that people will have access to Covid-19 vaccination free of charge”.
