Tree-planting festival themed “Forever grateful to Uncle Ho” launched

“Spring is the time for planting trees. Making the country all the more resplendent as eternal springtime”. Two lines of poetry by Uncle Ho are penetrated into millions of hearts of Vietnamese people. Athough more than 60 years passed, his appeal of the “tree-planting festival” has still preserved its value and gone into people’s daily life, becoming one of traditional cultural features of Vietnam in general and Binh Duong in particular.

Provincial People’s Committee has just held a ceremony to launch the tree-planting festival themed “Forever grateful to Uncle Ho” on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday (May 19, 1890-May 19, 2020) and the 61st anniversary of the tree-planting campaign launched by him (1959-2020) at provincial Military Command.

The event was attended by Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation; Nguyen Hoang Thao, Pernament Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Vo Van Minh, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Council; Le Huu Phuoc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Education and Propaganda; Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Nguyen Thanh Truc, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee together with numerous officials, civil servants, armed forces and Youth Union members.

Provincial leader beats the drum to launch the tree-planting festival “Forever grateful to President Ho Chi Minh”

The province has accelerated the local modernization and industrialization process towards a prosperous, beautiful and smart city with people’s spiritual and material lives improved and ecological environment protected. Therefore, the province needs to pay attention to protecting the environment, preserving biodiversity and combatting climate change towards sustainable development.

Over the past time, along with taking synchronous solutions on minimizing environmental pollution, authorities at all levels and people across the province actively engaged in planting and protecting forests, planting green trees in urbal areas, industrial parks, agencies, schools…, significantly contributing to protecting the environment and dealing with issues relating to the local environment. Especially, the annual tree-planting festival in memory of Uncle Ho has received enthusiastic response from agencies, units and locals, becoming a traditional beauty of the province. The whole province has so far planted millions of green trees, positively contributing to the local ecological environmental protection.

At the launching ceremony, Mr.Truc praised outstanding units, agencies and locals in planting trees, forests, contributing to building up a greener, cleaner and nicer environment at requirements of the local industralization, modernization and urbanization process. He call on them to continue well realizing this task, aiming to minimize the impacts of climate change, building up a civilized, modern and environmentally friendly Binh Duong with the quality of people’s life improved…

After the launching ceremony, delegates took part in planting 130 green trees at provincial Military Command. It is known that over the past two years, the province planted 182,000 green trees, equivallent to 437 hectares of concentrated forest, contributing to raising  the local rate of forest coverage to 57.4%. Most  industrial parks, urban areas in the province have ensured the rate of green trees as stipulated, making positive impacts on the local ecological environmental protection and sustainable development.

Under Uncle Ho’s teaching “For the sake of 10 years, we must plant trees. For the sake of 100 years, we must cultivate people’, provincial Millitary Command has attached special importance to planting green trees in association with socio-economic development. So far, provincial Military Command has planted and tended more than 700 hectares of forest with 1,000-1,500 various trees planted annually…
