Le Thanh Cung, chairman of provincial People’s Committee made the statement at yesterday’s meeting with provincial Health Department on disease prevention in the first half of 2012 and orientations for the rest of the year.

In the first half of the year, there were 1,309  cases of dengue fever reported in the province, up 2 compared to the corresponding period of last year. The number of cases of hand, foot and mouth disease reached 708, 1.44 times lower than in the corresponding period of last year and no deaths were reported.

Addressing the meeting, Mr.Cung required the local health sector to boost disease prevention; deliver leaflets on how to stem dengue fever and hand, foot and mouth disease to each household; prepare medicine against epidemic disease…
