Japan’s team took the first place in the overall rankings at the 32nd Open Golden Racket International Table Tennis Tournament 2018, which wrapped up in Ho Chi Minh City on July 7.
In the men’s singles, Singaporean player Zhu Yi beat Choi Won-jin from the Republic of Korea (RoK) 4-1 in the final to secure the title.
Nguyen Trung Kien of Vietnam’s Hanoi team and Thai player Padasak shared the third prize.
Japanese player Miku Izumo defeated defending champion Orawan Paranang from Thailand 4-0 in the women’s singles to claim the championship.
Meanwhile, Li Ching Wan from Hong Kong (China) and Choi Moon-young from the RoK ranked third.
The Japanese team triumphed in the men’s doubles and Boram Halleluyah team from the RoK earned the second place. Thailand and Vicem Hoang Thach team of Hai Duong province (Vietnam) took the third prize.
Two teams from Hong Kong (China) claimed the top two prizes of the women’s doubles, while the third place went to Thailand and the RoK’s team A.
The table tennis tournament began on July 4. More than 100 players from China’s Taiwan and Hong Kong, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam gathered to compete in four categories – the men’s and women’s doubles, and men’s and women’s singles.
