National cycling championship 2017 to kick off

Morning October 24, at Binh Duong Sports and Gymnastics Center (Hoa Phu Ward, Thu Dau Mot City), the opening ceremony of the 31st National Long-road Cycling Championship 2017 was hosted by Binh Duong Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism together with Cycling Department under General Department of Sports and Gymnastics, and Vietnam Bicycle Motorbike Federation.

The opening ceremony had the participation of Nguyen Duc Cuong, Head of Cycling Department under General Department of Sports and Gymnastics; Vo Hoang Phong, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Bicycle Motorbike Federation; Huynh Ngoc Dang, Director of Binh Duong Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and leaders of departments, sponsors and 129 athletes from 9 provinces, cities. 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Phu Yen, Deputy Director of Binh Duong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized: "It’s an honor to host a national championship, in recent days, Binh Duong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated closely with Binh Duong Bicycle Motorbike Federation and related departments to meet the standards and requirements of the General Department of Sports and Gymnastics, and Vietnam Bicycle Motorbike Federation. Binh Duong is a province located in the southern key economic region. With developed synchronous material facilities and a warm welcome from Binh Duong people, Binh Duong province hope to make the good impression of the land and people here, as well as making practical contributions to the development of the country's sports bike movement..."

This year, the athletes will compete in two main categories: long-distance racing; individual and teamracing with a total of 20 medal sets. The host Binh Duong competes in all contents and is a strong candidate for women’s categories, strive to be in the top three. Regarding men’s categories, the host is subject to the competition of more than 3 very strong teams in recent years, Ho Chi Minh City, An Giang, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, so strive to be in the final 6. The tournament will be closed on 30 October.
